9mm revolver accuracy

Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there any reason why a 9mm revolver might be inherently less accurate than one chambered for 38spl?

Using the right bullet there is no reason you can't get the same accuracy form your 9mm as you do from 38 spl.  My 929 runs best with bullets sized .358.

I think it could be because many 9 mm revolvers are fitted with barrels that are the same as 38 special. So you end up having to run an oversized bullet to make a 9 mil accurate

Talking 929 here.  If a guy/gal, who does not reload, bought a 929 while planning on using factory 9mm, they would not be seeing the accuracy that the gun is capable of?  I guess the same would go for someone that reloads 9mm, but doesn't use over sizesized bullets for existing guns.  Just curious here, why would S&W make the barrel this way?

My 929 barrel slugged at .357. It absolutely would not run with factory ammo.

 

I got massive bullet creep, light hits, and poor accuracy. 

 

Now reloaded ammo with .358 bullets, Federal Small Pistol Primers, and a good crimp, work fine.
