dillon
Here in Arizona we have a top-notch lefty revolver shooter named Dan Furbee. He runs the Mystery Mountain 3 gun match. He swaps the gun from his left to his right when he reloads, then returns it to his left hand to shoot. He is a top shooter, does extremely well at the IRC as well as the local and regional matches. MasterLefty
Jerry, Back in my early days, I ran a mod 10 and later a 586. Here are the steps I ran through reloading. Step 1. Take trigger finger out of the trigger guard and press the cylinder release. (I never did finish the ambi release on the 586.) Step 2. Thumb of right hand pops the cylinder out and gun is transferred to weak hand. Step 3 and 4 run concurrently. Step 3. Index finger on weak hand pops the extractor. Step 4. Strong hand is grabbing a new loader Step 5. Insert moon clip with strong hand Step 6. Grab grip with strong hand while retracting weak hand thumb from cylinder opening Step 7. Roll cylinder closed with fingers from weak hand while indexing onto the target array. Step 8. Fire 6 rounds Step 9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 as necessary. Kenny <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I reload the same, except for #1, I use my left thumb to engage the cylinder release. As far as the belt, Cr speed belt and holster with 7 moon clip holders. The gun is a 625 5". Phil
Tom Mainus
Supercomp, I am the president of the Lefthanded Revolver Shooters of America. We have no other members so have your friend contact me, I need a VP and it will make the meetings much more interesting if I have someone to talk to. The way Kenny explained it is pretty much how I do it except that I hit the cylinder release with the thumb on my left hand. My hands are big and I have custom releases on my revolvers that allow me to do that without changing my grip Tom
Carmoney
Tom, you better watch out for Phil....he's making a move..... He wants a shot at that brand new 2007 Lincoln Town Car they're awarding to the top left-handed revolver shooter at next year's USPSA Nationals. COF
And I thought I was the only Lefthanded Revolver shooter and annointed myself King! Dang, there goes the palace and the adoring masses! Tom, I guess we could form a coalition organization - but that power sharing might be difficult! Up until a couple months ago, I was using my right thumb to unlatch the cylinder, then snake it back through the frame to stabilize the cylinder. It was pointed out to me that I was wasting a lot of motion so I started using my left thumb to release the cylinder and pushing the cylinder out with my right thumb. After that, it follows the same path as what Kenny and Phil described. I use the same method with my 4" 625 and 646. Jerry
