Polarized glasses optimal for iron sights?

Recommended Posts

I'm about to get prescription lenses for a pair of Ray-Bans, and I'm not sure if I want to get polarization or or not. I don't shoot guns with dots and I'm not concerned about looking through scopes either. This is really just for everyday wear and shooting pistols. Are there any advantages or disadvantages that apply to the iron sight shooter with a fiber optic front sight?

Polarization cuts some glare that bounces off flat surfaces at a ~45 degree angle. Its an interesting effect how light gets polarized in that situation, worth some offline reading sometime.

Its nice to have for driving, and foliage can look differently with polarization, but I don’t think its a factor at all for irons.
