myproverb
Hi. Does anybody use this? Is it necessary? My XDM has a trigger job; and i’ve started having light hits. Does it have an extended tip or should i just replace my striker spring? Thanks for your input!
Mcfoto
I was in the same boat. My gunsmith recommended replacing the springs first. The cheapest and easiest fix. Once he got it apart, indeed one of the springs was played out.
Broncman
Clean the firing pin channel and run it with no lube in the channel.
RIIID
Light hits are also a sign that your recoil spring is too light or wore out. Rich

Rich Both cheap and easy things to try. (The first is actually suggested by Springfield in the owners manual - yes someone actually read that thing.) Given my recoil spring had less than 2K rounds on it, I doubt it was that. Another suggestion is to make sure the slide is lubed along the rails. After that, I was still having light strikes so into the gunsmith it went. If the OP has done the above my vote would still be replacing striker springs before going after the whole striker assembly. myproverb
I’m actually doing both; i’m also a fan of rich’s work?
rlrock
I had that problem with light strikes on my PRP firing pin. Turns out that all I had to do was clean the firing pin channel and make sure that no oil or lube gets in it again. Now it shoots my reloads with no problem. It takes Remington, Winchester and Federal primers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
