XRe
Does anyone know what # main spring and recoil spring they install from the factory on A Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Loaded in 40 cal? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It seems like most factory .40 recoil spring rates are 18#? STI ships a 14# in the .40 Trojan.
davidwiz
On Wolff's website, they say that for a .40 S&W, the factory weight for a recoil spring is 19# in a 1911.
mcoliver
19#? Wow, that's some heavy stuff. And I thought the 15#'er I was experimenting with was already difficult considering it was only 2# above my old one. I'd probably get a hernia racking those. He replaced them with 20.5 lb springs. Talk about getting a hernia! It was awful, and the worst part was it didn't really help.
tfs
The best way to check the factory mainspring and recoil spring of a Springfield Armory pistol is to ask their customer service department. They will be able to give you an accurate answer.
