kamikaze1a
I saw on EGW that they have a full length guide rod version for STI and another for 1911. Says that the STI guide rod has a smaller protrusion on the rear end. So not interchangeable among 1911 and STI? How about the SV? I had bought/installed guide rods before but didn't know that they were not universal...
zzt
The STI does have a smaller rear than "normal". The SVI is larger than "normal". If you have an STI pistol, just buy the STI guide rod and polish it up. I've never used the EGW STI rod, but their stuff is always good.
Edge40
Just get the Dawson tool less. Not cheap for a guide rod but it's the only thing I would use now.
EEH
I still can't see why people don't like the recoil master that comes with the sti. I had one Sti edge I put 30,000 rds thru with no problem, changed springs every 5000 rds. Yes I know they are a little easer to take down with the full length guide rod, just my $.02 It's worth what you pay for it
echotango
recoil masters are not tunable(not sure if that is a word) and some feel they have a 2 stage pulse. EGW now only makes the small head gr. Edited June 7, 2016 by echotango
hjweiss
Agree with "Edge40"...... the Dawson Tool-less guide rod that came in my DVC Limited is just a pleasure to use. Make both dis- and re - assembly a real snap. A real worthwhile innovation.
kamikaze1a
Thanks for the info on the EGW gr! I need the weight out front so looking at Tungsten. Doesn't look like Dawson has a tungsten...
