Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Actually, the price for the DLC and the CrN finish is the same. They are both PVD applied finishes. I have Infinity"s with both finishes and I like the DLC the best. It is the most wear resistant finish I have ever encountered and the very deep black is quite attractive.
  2. I submitted my 2nd Infinity gun order deposit on 11-2-16 and received that gun on 5-2-18......so exactly 18 months. If you're impatient, that's understandable but remember this is a full custom build. That's just the nature of custom workmanship. I've certainly waited longer for other custom guns. If you absolutely can't wait.... then a full custom gun simply isn't the way to go.
  3. I have three Sig Sauer P210 Legends (German Made). They all require a very short COL. Using Montana Gold 124 gr. JHP bullets my max COL in these guns (based on "Plunk Testing") is 1.060".
  4. After using standard chronographs (with down range sky screens) for many years I switched to the Lab Radar over a year ago. I really like it. It has none of the vexing sensitivity to lighting conditions, intensity and angle that used to drive me nuts with sky screens. Set up is quick and easy and the information displayed is really nice and useful...such as providing down range velocities beyond just at the muzzle. And since it sits next to you, shooting it accidentally requires a real effort! It is just a bit more complex and there is something of a learning curve but once that is mastered the Lab Radar is a pleasure to use.
  5. Your Leupold DPP came with a tight fitting rubber protective cover. Use it when cleaning.
  6. Ironic Twitch....Sorry, If I was getting a little heated there. Beyond that, starting to commit the greater forum crime of going "Off Topic". Ranger Trace....Thanks, sometimes a little timely "Adult Intervention" is just the ticket.
  7. Sorry... Oh my gosh, a GM!! Well I didn't know GM's were immune to being mistaken and were all knowing, especially when LE training doctrine is the subject. As for being a "Newbie".... after a dozen years in military service and 22 years as a Chief Firearms Instructor in LE and more than forty years in competitive shooting.....I may not really be a "Newbie". But I must admit I certainly don't know it all. But by all means, do enjoy LYAO.
  8. "What you've been taught or told is pretty inaccurate" Well, I guess you're entitled to your opinion. No offense, but is your level of experience and expertise on par with leading LE trainers? Again, I was specifically commenting on the Glock slide stop. Which is a problematic control due to its shape and size. As you might expect, LE training standards and protocols vary quite a bit. But use of the "Slingshot" method for chambering a round with the Glock is widely accepted and fairly standard. It is definitely more positive than relying on the slide lock ...on a Glock. It's what I taught and what I was taught.... and what was recommended by Glock themselves.
  9. In Law Enforcement, Glocks are the most commonly used duty weapon. On a Glock the slide lock is, at best, a fine motor skill! Most of the time it's just plain hard to use. That's why in LE training we teach the slingshot method. Slower but very positive. That same consideration doesn't necessarily apply to other style pistols. But... the slingshot technique will always work when the stress level is extreme or the hands are slippery from sweat or blood.
  10. Total wait time was 17 months, 13 days. There were, however, some unusual technical issues that resulted in delays. The guys at SV were great about it and took care of me. No complaints. And...as others have said before, it's well worth the wait!
  11. Finally received mine. 880 rounds through it so far and I'm delighted with it. This one has the CrN (Chromium Nitride) finish, which I really like.
  12. I tried using a thin dowel to push down the spring but that didn't work. I'll try to find a tool more like what KK4364 uses. Thanks all, appreciate the help. By the way, just received my first Infinity two weeks ago and loving it so far!
  13. Maybe I'm just dense but, what's the secret to removing the base plate on new SVI magazines. I removed the retaining screw on the base plate bottom but the last coil of the magazine spring hangs/catches onto the base and prevents it being pushed forward and off the magazine tube. All my Infinity mags have this same trait. So far everything I've tried has been futile.
  14. Great looking pistol! I'm hoping to get mine very soon as well. Question: What is the finish on your gun? Just wondering if that is the CrN (Chromium Nitride) finish?
  15. Why not consider something a bit different....like a 2011 instead of a 1911. An SVI Infinity would be within your budget and they are fantastic performance pistols.
