I believe quite a few casters in the us use their own coating or something other than hitek. They may use powder coat, moly etc. or something else entirely.

I will say the hitek (when applied and cured correctly) performs very well. Doesn't smoke excessively (certain powders will produce more than others), very accurate, no leading or fouling from coating and no coating on fingers when loading.

I think the blue bullet has the best coating. Everyone else in the industry uses the same coating coming out of Australia? From what I'm told.

I believe Blue bullet is the only company to use there own coating from what I've heard.

Why do you think it's a problem that some bullet makers use the same coating (especially when it works well)? Why would it be better that somebody else uses their "own" coating? That doesn't make sense.
It makes sense to me. Have you ever compared a blue bullet to any of the other coated bullets that all use the same stuff. It is a totally different product. Looks and feels nothing like the hytek coatings

BigBoy said that Blue has the best coating and seems to argue it's because "everyone else uses the same coating coming out of Australia" and says Blue uses it's own coating, but he otherwise offers no data. It's just an opinion.

I've loaded thousands of both Hi-Tek coated bullets and Blues in 9mm, .40, and .38 Super. I've found that Hi-Tek is a hard, reliable, non-leading coating and that the guns smoke no more than any other bullet (except in .38, but still not too bad and not distracting during shooting). Blue seems softer, smokes about the same, has the same accuracy, and colors my hands something fierce while loading mags at matches and even more while loading ammo. All three brands are reasonably accurate.

I was told from their sponsored shooters that they have their own coating.

The other big names in the industry use the coating stuff that is from Australia, like I said above, (FROM WHAT I"M TOLD) I must assume that's where the manufacturer is.

The reason why I said I think its the best is because when I see people shooting major from an open gun and there is hardly any smoke, I must assume that hardly any of the coating is being burned off. I've seen other coatings smoke like hell and stink because of powder/bullet combos.

And if you would go back and read and NOT put words in my mouth, I had a question mark behind Australia. I also stated it was from what I was told and from what I've heard.

From the people that I seen shooting Bayous, The black bullet and I believe the other was Missouri bullet co. These are people I shoot with, Their bullet/powder combo smoke like hell compared to the blue bullet/powder combo I use and watching other shooters in open class.

I see some people say Blue Bullets don't stink - my experience is different. I just loaded a batch and shot some - they produce the same burnt plastic smell as the Black Bullets did.

It is OK to use for Minor, I think, but it is not correct to say they are smell-free.
