bzt
This weekend I went to a local steel match where I can shoot my Ruger 22/45. First stage of the day was all poppers. Poppers calibrated for a 9mm. So they make me shoot first with the .22 since I am the only one with a .22. I shoot, but cant hear or see hits, so I think I missed. I ended up shooting each target 3 times. It was a disaster of a stage. I dont know how I could have done that stage successfully other than just shooting once and taking the chance that I hit them all.

AzShooter
Shoot Steel Challenge Matches. You don't have to knock anything down, I have no problem hearing my hits but you are better off calling your shots and knowing you hit the target. You should be able to see the hits since they paint targets between shooters at most clubs.
ZackJones
It would have been nice if they had painted the steel before you shot. That way if there was a mark on the steel that would have been good enough to consider it hit instead of requiring it to be knocked down.
photoracer
I have shot steel, with a .22, that was calibrated for 9mm. I found you need to shoot the "head" portion of the target to make sure it falls. No big deal with a red dot but might be more so with iron sights.
