Henning base plates for Limited.

I am running the Henning base plates with the grams followers on my Limited. The issue I have is after a stage or 2 and I want to clean my mags. They are not very easy to get off my mags, the little detent piece that keeps them on the mag is a pain to get to clear the mag to remove. Without using a knife or some other sharp object. And by having to do this some of them have stuck in the base plate and are hard to get to pop out again. Anyone else had this issue?

Mine come off easy. Plus I've never done it at a match. The mags and gun are not very sensitive to dirt is there a reason why you are cleaning them so often?

I think you are talking about the H-141 base pads for 140mm mags? I use the henning H-141 basepads and like them, but agree that getting them off can be a little tricky sometimes it feels like I am bending the spring (but have never done so).

If you want a really easy on-off base pad the Caspian Quick Change is very good and works great on the large frame Tanfo mags. The only negative is that if you are running a magwell you will need to remove some material from the sides of the Caspian base pad to get clearance between it and the mag well. I've seen some nice work on the base pads using a ball end mill to make the cut for the clearance.

Yes they are the H-141 base pads, thanks for the info.

I have the 140mm base pads for limited,I am not going to take them apart and clean them unless I have an issue with one, just wipe them off good.

I have a few of the H-141 base pads that are tight also.

I put a drop of gun oil in the detent part, which may not be a great Idea do to the fact that oil collects dirt, but it did seem to help a little.

Hate it when the mag falls into a pile of sand or crap, and you have to take it apart to clean it so you can use it again that day. But if you shoot enough it's bound to happen sometime.

mine were a pain to get on and off when I first got them. check the little lips on the bottom of the mag for any dings and smooth them up a bit.

The detents were also super stiff.

Now I can easily push down the detent with my thumb, slide off the pad, remove guts, run a brush through and pop it back on very easily with no tools or banging on stuff needed. I run 6 of them on the chrome 38 tubes that were inbetween the old plain SA38 tubes and the new K38 tubes (sort of a hybrid between the 2 styles).

Like I said, when new they were a long way from being 'easy off'. They were a bitch to get on and off and I marked one up bad with a spring.

So my feeling is yours will break in nicely too with some use. Stick with them, they are the nicest pads for the tanfog tubes once they break in a little. :)

I've got the henning pads and grams guts, never had a problem. they come off easy enough. i clean my mags all of the time. At a local, i'll wipe em off and usually only if there is visible sand and dirt inside do i clean them. But at a level 2, if it hits the ground, it gets taken apart and cleaned. Too much time and money invested in a lvl 2 to throw it all away on a malfunction due to a dirty mag. ( shoot at East Alabama Gun Club and have a mag hit the ground and not clean it....tell me how it goes for you! ) Dont get me wrong, the range is awesome, but they have this sand that best resembles little triangles. one grain gets in your mag, and it is now a salt and pepper shaker!!

Damn, I've never ever cleaned or taken apart a single magazine and I've never had an issue.

Do you shoot on grass? Seriously, that is awesome that you've never had to clean a mag. I may be a bit anal about cleaning mine, but there certainly have been times when i've picked one up after a stage and either I or the RO stepped on it and there is dirt and sand inside. I would never run a stage with clearly dirt and sand inside the mag. Not saying you would, just find it remarkable you've never had to take apart a mag.

I will take a look and my mags and make sure they are not jacked up on the bottom.
