longbeard
What's the ins and outs this? Should I file the grip smooth? If so, should I remove the front strap or leave it? Interested in other people's experiences.
Bluemooncricket
I tried some pre-cut from Dawson on my Marauder over the stock grip. It felt good but after a few draws one side started to shift on me. I don't think the texture of the stock grip is conducive to good adhesion. However, I noticed Dawson sells some adhesive to help with that issue, though I haven't tried it yet. I'm thinking hard about stippling but haven't committed yet. Mike21STI
Just crazy glue it in the spot that slides and it will be good to go.
longbeard
I ended up smoothing the grip and smoothing the front strap. I used an electric palm sander with 80 grit paper. I have good adherence. Used a heat gun after application to get the glue nice and gooey and then really massaged it in.
CDRODA396
I sanded the checkering off of the sides and front strap, then applied TruGrip. Workes awesome and lasts. I don't have this gun anymore, but the pic shows the grip well after sanding and applying the TruGrip tape.

ipscjoe
You need to clean the grip with high percent isopropyl alcohol first. If it doesn't stick well then, peal it back off and spray the back of it with some 3m 77 adhesive spray.
joshxdm9
Just just cleaned the my stock grip really well with an alcohol wipes and stuck the dawson grip tape on. Have shot a few matches and lots of dry fire with no issues.
