ES13Raven
Are plated bullets with a thick / heavy plate more accurate than their standard counterpart at minor power factor? (Xtreme HPCB, Berry's HBRN-TP etc.)
smokewagon
Are plated bullets with a thick / heavy plate more accurate than their standard counterpart at minor power factor? (Xtreme HPCB, Berry's HBRN-TP etc.) I have found that the diameter (.355 vs. .356) is what determines accuracy more than plating thickness. MarkCO
Diameter then consistency. The thicker plating is an attempt to mitigate the damage caused by over-crimping which robs accuracy.
Bkreutz
I use the thick plated mainly because I shoot 9 major. Accuracy with the standard plated was fine with minor power loads. I just buy the thick plated ones now because the difference in price is negligible at the moment.. (that way I don't get confused with which bullets I'm using ) I'm easily confused, that's why I shoot open, don't have to think about equipment rules (or reloading) Edited April 15, 2015 by Bkreutz
hangin
I buy plated bullets for practice and small local matches. I don't have any problems with accuracy. I usually use Xtreme .357 diameter. But have been looking into the thick plated bullets from RMR bullets because they are usually cheaper.

M109R
For what it is worth, plated is not nearly as accurate as jacketed for me.
