This past weekend I had to run a 3 gun nation classifier that required an empty start. I'd been practicing some after this thread got my thinking. Here is what I did.

Start port arms

Disengage safety while rolling gun over

2 quality loads with weak hand

Use strong hand thumb to hit trigger

Rack bolt with weak hand while rilling gun over

Shoulder and fire

My first shot time was 5.07.

Target was a 4"x10" steel that was 34 feet away.

It could be a little faster but I was pretty happy with it. I can posts a video if anyone is interested.

I also had an empty gun start, load, shoot 6 steel, move to box B and engage 6 poppers classifier this weekend. My plan differed after the quality 8 shells loaded weak hand. I used my weak hand thumb to push the shell drop button (Beretta 1301) while almost simultaneously racking the bolt handle with my pointer finger. I've got a few videos of my practice at home running the classifier just under 17 seconds. At the match: completely screwed it up. I'll blame it on all the ice on my gun....
