striped1 Posted March 6, 2015 Share Posted March 6, 2015 Hello from a former Mainer. Used to live in Lebanon. Now just miss it every day. You have completely the wrong attitude. Break the bank and by a JP right out of the gate. It will be cheaper in the long run. Actually, I have heard of and seen guys do pretty well with the dpms 308. Some have pretty decent accuracy especially with a good trigger. Get a DPMS, a free float handguard, spend good money on a trigger and then make sure you have good mounts and glass. Don't skimp there. Think Larue and higher end - $800 and up on the glass. Those are the things that make a good base rifle decently accurate. But again, just get the JP now and be done with it.
