Nimitz
Anyone have a good method for loosening Loctite? I need to loosen the over travel set screw on my CZ trigger and the allen wrench is so small I don't want to strip the screw ... thx
revomodel10
heat gun if you have one, otherwise propane torch
Youngeyes
Which loctite did you use? A small drop of acetone should loosen it.
PatJones
Get a second Allen key that fits, you will ruin the key. With a torch, get the key red hot on the tip and put it in the screw head. The heat will ruin the temper on the Allen key, but it won't bother the screw and it should loosen the Loctite. Then use your good Allen key and try the screw. This assumes they used a temperature sensitive thread locker like loctite.
kmca
For a small screw, I use a soldering gun to heat the screw.

pcschwenke
+1 to the soldering iron or heat gun. I've spoken with Loctite on several occasions, they say heat breaks the bond of threadlockers.
Ah0386
Heat gun? If you're dealing with loctite, especially Red 271, a propane is required. Hell, I've used MAP GAS on gas block set screws and made short of back them out.
PatJones
Don't use a torch directly on the trigger. You have springs in there they can be ruined by heat.
Nimitz
discovered that Loctite was apparently not used on the over travel screw .... just struck the allen wrench in there and started turning ....
kingmedicine
I always used boiling water or a heat gun...
