Glock porn

I just got back from the range where I did a bunch of holster work with my ZEV using my tactical rig (Dropped and offset ALS, with a micro battle belt) and my full blown race rig with my 5.4" Infinity Limited gun. While I realize it's because I've not been shooting matches and dry firing, I was still amazed to see I was consistently .10 faster out of the holster to first shot with the ZEV/ALS combo.

Wow..... You tested back to back with a retention type holster with a glock and a race holster 2011 combo?

There is a lot to be said for the simplicity and lack of thumb safety of a glock. I have mediumish size hands and I can really get a great solid grip on the glock. It feels a little less solid with my 2011 even though I have a stippled reduced grip. I think the grip angle also really locks in your wrist on the glock.

Yeah I wish I would have had someone to run the camera. It was too windy to set it up on a barrel. Keep in mind, I carry the G17 and an ALS paddle every day at work and haven't dry fired the Limited gun at all in months. With some moderate practice, I know I can easily shave the .10 of the SV.....

I'd have gone. But then you'd have thrown rocks at your zev after shooting my 34..... :)

Maybe.....but on the clock, I don't notice the travel. And the lightened slide makes the splits crazy fast.

That is a nice stippling job. The yellow slide looks kinda crazy but, then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! lol Do you call your split times "banana splits"? lol :P

The slide isn't yellow, it's just the lighting, it's actually TiN PVD coated gold... Like the tacticool barrels Jedi was speaking of :-)

Do you practice a lot of draws and dry fire the Z17 often? I know you love your infinity's but in your line of work I would be very tempted to pick up a ZEV 35 to try in competition. Consistency on draw, grip angle, sight alignment and all that would transfer nicely between duty and play.

I noticed the same thing with the trigger. But you can take out almost all of the pre-travel and over-travel in less than 5 min on the zev triggers if you were so inclined. About a 1/4-1/2 turn on the set screws and your good to go.

And the dragonfly slide cycles incredibly fast. When I switch from the ZEV to the STi it almost feels like the sti slide is going in slow motion. lol

My personal opinion is that I hate the rolling break from a zev or zev like trigger, no matter how smooth or light it is. I like a trigger that has a definitive wall and then clean crisp break, even if it measures 4-4.5 lbs on the scale.

My favorite trigger combination in my competition guns and the one Trace liked most is the Orange County custom trigger bar / adjustable shoe combined with the Ghost Inc 5.0 tactical connector. I also use a 6lb trigger spring, 4lb striker spring, reduced power safety plunger spring and a zev lightened striker. I take nearly all the pre travel out with the adjustment screw in the trigger shoe, and post travel is taken care of by properly fitting the connector.

I've also tried the ghost 3.5 evo elite and the 3.5 rocket connectors. Both worked well and were smooth but didn't have the crisp break I like.

In my carry gun and night stand gun I am using the custom trigger bar and the ghost 4.5 ranger connector along with the 6lb trigger spring, but keep the std weight striker spring, safety plunger spring, and factory striker. This is still gives me a 4.5lb pull but a little different feel than the competition setup.

I've tried the same combination of parts with different connectors including zev and TTI and just can't get the crisp break that the ghost connectors give.

Interesting. I'd love to try your set-up. I thought my zev ultimate had a pretty good wall and clean break on my comp gun.

On my ZEV g17 enhanced SOCOM I just installed a zev ultimate trigger but I wanted a heavier pull so I took out the race connector and replaced it with the Ghost 5.0 tactical connector (which I happen to have lying around) and you talk about a nice trigger. Nice wall and super crisp break and reset. A little more adjusting and I got out all the pretravel and over travel. Haven't had a chance to try it in live fire yet though......

Not the way "we do" for USPSA, but I do a couple dozen draws a week out of the ALS paddle. The platforms are definitely different and thats why I did the drills back to back yesterday. I checked my range log last night and that was the first time I'd shot my Limited gun since November. Lack of practice is the problem. It's time to fix that...On another note, it was still much easier to shoot a nice group and track the front sight with the Infinity.

You probably have an identical trigger to my setup, as for the feel anyway. I adjust the pre travel so that the trigger safety functions cleanly, then back off another 1/8 a turn. That gives me just the slightest amount of slack to the wall.

Here is mine. G41. ZEV work inside and out. WMD guns did the nickel boron work on the slide and barrel.

Dawson sights. Carver Magwell. Arredondo basepads but soon will be getting the TTI basepads.

Will start running it in matches this month until My 2011 comes back from the gunsmith.
