Just looking for any load info for my two CZ's.

1 SP-01 and 1 P-01.

I want to try these Lead 124 TC Grooveless projectiles.

Been shooting a few of Donnie's 147's.

Looking to load with VV N320 powder but could use ANY LOAD INFO.

I've been using some of Donnie's New Color coatings HI-TEK Red/Copper

as of late, but these were only available this past Monday in

Green or the GOLD that these are.

My CZ SP-01 and P-01 Compact will load the Bayou Coated 147 RNFP at 1.130/1.135.

To use the Bayou 124 TC (Coated Groove-less) I need to set C.O.L.

at 1.080 (with a safety factor) to pass the PLUNK TEST in both firearms.

I was looking for a possible start charge with the Bayou 124 TC and VV N320 powder.

I moved to round nose bullets on my CZ's simply because the TC's required such a short OAL. If you're dropping the OAL that much I would drop back to about 3.6 grains of N320 and work up from there (assuming you're loading minor). My guess is you'll end up somewhere around 3.8 - 3.9 grains of N320 through the CZ SP01. As always YMMV.

I've never thought much about the color of bullets. Donnie usually sends me green, but I can remember getting some reddish/gold colored bullets before. No difference to me, but I've seen people who theorize that gold and silver colored bullets reflect some of the "heat" away from the base of bullet and therefore these reflective colors run cleaner. Green has always worked well for me... Love my Bayou's, even with lube ring.

razorfish,

Thanks,

The newer HI-TEK colors coming out have better/better catalysts.

Gateway Bullets presently has the newest DRY POWER HI-TEK mix

that has the color/catalyst already together in DRY form, that

makes it easier for self casters/coaters to apply.

DONNIE'S order of the newest colors and dry mixes has not yet

arrived in the US from Australia.

I don't cast bullets yet, but the dry-mix is a move in the right direction. It sounds like you combine the dry-mix with acetone to create the coating. With all of the excitement over the dry mix I'm assuming this simplifies things a bit.

Between myself and two sons, I've got a case a month bullet habit so I'll have to look into this. I can't imagine I would like casting much less coating, but I sure do love saving money :)

razorfish,

Correct, the dry mix will be easier to mix up, add your own

Acetone, coat/dry/bake/coat/dry/bake/SIZE/load/shoot.

You can coat/bake 200/300 at a time IN A DEDICATED CONVECTION

COUNTERTOP OVEN (it can never be used for FOOD AGAIN).

I think I'll start with 3.5 grains of VV N320 on the Bayou 124 TC

loaded at the C.O.L. of 1.080 for my CZ's. (SP-01, P0-1 Compact)

Go up to 3.6, 3.7, 3.8 We'll see.

The CZ SP-01 seem to shoot well INDOORS with the Bayou COATED

147 grain RNFP and 3.2 grains VV N320 loaded at 1.130/1.135.

hi ya,

Razor Fish; its almost as cheap to buy as get into casting and smelting unless you have a silver stream nearby. I can pay $75./1,000 for blackbulletsinternational.com

and avoid expense and mess. My wife disliked me doing the smelting anywhere near the house, ditto for casting.

to the moon man, I think I would trust the loading books more than personal recommendations: any lead bullet of same weight carrys same ballistics, coated or not imho.

Max it,

I'm retired and got back into shooting,

then Reloading and Casting, then Coating all for a hobby

to keep occupied. Now I seem to be heading time wise

like a full time job. I purchased completed projectiles

also, from Bayou, & SNS.

I've in the past used Lead from Penn, Quality Cast, Hornady

& ZERO projectiles.

I have some of the NEW projectiles from THE BLUE BULLET COMPANY

that a friend gave me some samples of and I've not loaded them as of yet.

They're 158 grain .359 SWC NO LUBE GROOVE.

I use HI-TEK coatings from Bayou to coat with and

presently have an order on the way from Gateway Bullets

of the NEW "DRY MIX HI-TEK" product.

Donnie's order has not yet left Australia. (he ordered a bunch I hear).

I find the Casting and Coating to be RELAXING just as I find reloading to be.

hi Moonman,

Good on yer'

too many hobbies for me; loading an indoor and outdoor shooting more than fills my spare time (full time worker).

Also I am RO at various matches: GSSF, and Kids Safari (Tomorrow)

glad to have your input. Be safe.
