DRobson
Is it possible to re cut a rear bomar cut lower? My current build has a .190 tall front sight and i'm still about 4" high at 25yd. I really don't want to keep going taller on the front sight. Or does anyone know of a bomar style rear sight with a shorter blade. My current rear blade measures .415" tall. Steve RA
File the top of the rear blade down until it hits where you want, if desired, cut notch lower and then cold blue - or permanent Magic Marker.
Pat Miles
To answer your question, a dovetail cannot be cut deeper. Pat Edited June 2, 2014 by Pat Miles
billdozer
You can weld it up and re-machine it. I did it on mine and you can't tell with the sight installed. Obviously it has to be refinished afterwards.
RPatton
Gunsmith rule #1 : Screw up the cheapest part first. Yes. You can cut a dovetail deeper................. but it won't work.
