Do's and Dont's for the 1st time custom Limited build

At this point I will be finishing out the rest of this year with my SS minor rig and jumping into the Limited game next year. I still have a lot to learn, and the SS Minor is a great in expensive way to do it. I started off the year late, but with a few real decent ( for me ) classifier scores that would have got me pretty close to a B initial classification. I then proceeded to shoot 6 more classifiers in the same month in which a totally blew up and ended up barely making "C".

Ive realized I need to continue to work out some bad habits, and I've also let certain things in matches like classifier stages and no shoots get into my head big time. I swear I can shoot A's all day until you throw a no shoot into the mix! Its like Im aiming for the damn things!

I'm insanely excited about the custom pistol, but Im glad to have the cost associated with building it over. I will likely have a Frank build me another pistol ( SS in .40 for SS and L10 ) but this current build was a little over the top for my budget! the amount of shoot I did this year suffered as there was not the same amount of money for components with the amount of money I had tied up with the build and a POS Para Pro Custom ( What a mess, I still have yet to receive a refund from Para )

Best part of this year has been attending more matches and getting more comfortable asking the better shooters questions. We have a lot of good shooters in a concentrated area up here in the North East. I have 3 club within an hour of my that host monthly USPSA matches, with my home club, Harvard Sportsmans Club being probably one of the best

You probably are, you shouldn't even see the NS, just the spot on the target you want to hit.

Yes, this was apparent at the last Harvard Shoot. Before the buzzer I joked, "Dont shoot the white guys" The RO ( I think was Dandini at the time ) Said, "No, Shoot "A's".....

I then proceeded to shoot too fast, and shoot the crap out of the No Shoots. As usual, once that happens the remaining stages usually go straight to hell as well.

Don't think "Don't shoot the white guys." That makes the no-shoots prominent in your mind...

Do think "I always shoot the A zone." That makes the A zone prominent in your mind...

Read "With winning in Mind" by Lanny Bassham... Good book on positive shooting by an Olympic gold medalist...
