profec291
Hey guys, Got my new STI frame in and I noticed it has some rust spots: Is this normal? I sent the shop I bought it from an e-mail as well, but I wanted to get some opinions here. Thanks!
diehli
It is likely that someone was handling it.
Larry White
Thats pretty normal, its just surface rust. After the gun is built it will be bead blasted or polished before its chromed or blued.--------Larry
davidwiz
It is super normal, just surface rust. Any gunsmith worth his/her/it salt is going to at least sand or bead blast the bare metal before having a finish applied to it. That will take care of the surface rust you're seeing. .40AET
I just picked up a new frame and slide from STI. The two came drenched in oil, as if dunked in a tank. My slide on my limited gun came back from SV the same way. Yours looks like the oil was removed. Take away the oil, add some fingerprints and you will get rust. What everyone else has stated will take care of the problem.
Donho
Same thing happened to me last summer. I was waiting to send the gun to EGW, they said to ship it and they would bead blast the rust off. Just got back the final product back last month. George Smith built one hell of a limited blaster for me.
