Sarge
5.2.5.3 Unless specified in the written stage briefing, or unless required by a Range Officer, the position of holsters and allied equipment must not be moved or changed by a competitor during a match. If a retaining strap is attached to a holster or magazine pouch, it must be applied or closed prior to issuance of the “Standby” command. I think "or closed" applies to the top strap in question. sperman
That rule has nothing to do with duty gear.
davsco
section 5.2.5.3 that mentions "strap" is before, and not tied to 5.2.8 that allows duty gear. using the bladetech WRS without the hood deployed is pretty much the same thing as using the bladetech DOH, so there is just no advantage to not deploying the hood vs using clearly production (and limited and open) -legal holsters. Sarge
That rule has nothing to do with duty gear. Correct. Duty gear rules don't mention straps. I think we got side tracked as the question was about holsters with straps, not duty gear. The strap rule pertains to all holsters.
frag316
Sorry, but looking at photos of the holster in question, that's a strap, regardless of whether Blade-Tech refers to it as a "hood" or not. The Level 3 retention on a Blackhawk SERPA holster is a "hood," in that it's open only on one side. The mechanism on both the WRS and Safariland's SLS are straps (open on two sides). EkuJustice
Nope not any retention issues with the holsters where the lack of a retaining strap makes them any less secure than what people are using right now. The ones most common now are new shooters with a leather holster with a thumb break or guys using 3 gun gear with a hood etc. Seems foolish to make the guy with his 3 gun rig use all the retention and the guy with a race holster unlock it or the guy with his kydex holster soo loose that it dosent even have a friction retention on it like one shooter here does where the fun is basically in a pouch the kydex is so loose.
