mhoosier
I just got some SandS casting 125 gr plated bullets. Can I use the Lee factory crimp die with them or will that damage the coating? If not, how should I crimp? I am using a Dillon 650. Also, I will be using Win231...if you have any pointers there too. Thanks!
Durtarg
I use a LEE FCD with mine at a .378 crimp. Just make sure you flare enough not to damage the plating. With 231 if your are loading for power factor I use 4.1gr Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rockets
No need to use the Lee FCD.. Use a light crimp with your regular dies. The FCD deforms your boolits.
Torogi
Light crimp for me is no more than a quarter turn.
chopps
I shoot berrys 124's and .377 crimp and works fine
JLeeCZ
Measure your bullet then add brass wall thickness x 2. There's your crimp. eg. .356 + .020(.010 x 2) = .376. Just remove the initial flare/bell and give it the push test.
BeerBaron
there is no problem using the FCD with the hi-tek coated lead bullets. I've done it for years. you don't want to crimp them to buggery though. just a light crimp is enough. there is some good advice above about determining your crimp. if set correctly the FCD will not be swaging your bullets. mine never has even on .356 and .3565 sized pills. L3324temp
On 9mm (tapered case) I have no issue using the FCD with any bullets. I won't use it on 40 or 45 (straight case).
