profec291
Hey all, A friend of mine just started shooting in Production with a XD-.40. He's thinking about buying a 9mm barrel, is this a legal modification to shoot in Production? I'm leaning towards no, since all we have been able to find are aftermarket barrels. Any one have an opinion on this? thanks
Flexmoney
Not likely. A 9mm barrel in the 40 might be considered a "bull barrel". Though...that might be the actual setup that Springfield uses. If so, that may make it legal.
Vince Pinto
I don't have an opinion on the matter, and I can't find any reference to changing calibre, but I believe the following is the applicable rule in US Production Division Appendix D9 (page 98 of the green book): 21.3 Replacement barrels allowed provided barrel length is same as original factory standard. Heavy barrels and/or barrel sleeves not allowed. If you want a definitive answer, contact USPSA NROI Chief John Amidon at jamidon1@twcny.rr.com, and tell him Vinny sent you (I get a small commission for every referral!). Matthew_Mink
Nope, not legal. Springfield Armory does not make an XD40 in 9mm. Same reason why a G35 9mm is not legal.

There you go...if it says XD40 on the slide (or any place else), then it won't be allowed.
John Thompson
Someone was selling aftermarket barrels to convert to 9mm before Springfield came out with the 9mm long slide.
