Smith and Wesson 627

Several months before "8 shot minor" was just talk, I got a 627 PC setup for open (with c-more) and extras for a $1000 Had a Ti cylinder setup for 9mm and acquired a bunch of moon clips. I'm ready for Feb 2014.

Doubt I could find that kind of deal now.

9mm 627s do exist. I've got one..

Tom at TK customs will cut your cylinder. He cuts it for 38 super then flares it for 9mm.

I ran a 686 in 9mm all year. No issues.

I would recommend soft molly bullets.

What needs done to the current 4in 627 Pro Series models that are out on shelves?

I picked one of the 627 Pro Series up new a little while ago. Here's what I've done to tailor it to my preferences so far:

1) Swapped in a 0.250" height SDM FO front sight. I did not care for the red insert in the top of the factory ramp sight. Made for an odd sight picture.

2) Opened up and deepened the rear sight blade notch a bit. 0.125" width that comes from the factory seems a tad narrow, I prefer it closer to 0.150".

3) Swapped in a forged, serrated, .265" flash-chromed forged trigger. I really DID NOT like feel of the wide, smooth MIM "target trigger" that came with the gun. I find the narrow, serrated trigger a big improvement.

4) Trigger job - smoothed out the internals, removed the locking flag, dropped in a lightened rebound spring and main spring. Action felt pretty rough and heavy to me "out of the box".

5) Converted "Target" hammer spur to "Combat" style hammer spur, with the trusty grinder and file. Looks not half-bad after I applied a little "cold blue". I did not go all the way with a DAO conversion for now, because I like to be able to use my cylinder as my "moonclip checker", and it's a little easier to do this safely when you can thumb the hammer back to spin the cylinder.

6) Swapped on some JM stocks.

Cylinder comes cut for moonclips, with the holes chamfered.

I haven't done much load testing with it yet, hope to get to do that in the next few weeks.
