Gas block question

My brothe just turned 18 and bought himself a RRA mid length flat top. It has the standard front site gas block. The salesman sold him on a leupold 1.5x4 ar scope. He told him that the scope would "see past the front site". As you can guess, it does nothing of the sort.

Can anyone suggest a replacement gas block? How difficult is it to install?

Any if the low profile ones work just fine or you can take a cutoff wheel and cut the front sight tower off then grind it to shape like the bushmaster optics ready gun has

It's not that hard to remove and swap but the pins may be in there right in the front sight

The pins are the problem. I tried to swap the one on my M&P out for a low pro one, but the pins stopped that. So I just cut it down, wasn't to hard. If you do cut it remember to reblue it with something, I pick some up from Gander Mountain.

From the stock end. The go from non ejection port side to the ejection port side. Look at your pins. One side should look bigger if they are tapered. Not all manufactures use tapered pins. What I use is a very short pin punch as more or less a starter punch to get them going then use a regular punch to get them out. They may be very tight.
