APL-G35
Okay dumb question. How do you install the fibre optic cable in a sight without a through hole? It had one in it when I got it and I've had other front sights with a hole drilled all the way through. I understand those because you melt both ends and the tension holds it in. I am at a loss here and I'm sure it's something simple.
EkuJustice
Whose front sight is it
APL-G35
I have no idea it was on a gun I traded for.
jimbullet
Can you post a pic? Most front sights typically have a hole
RePete
SDM do that on their sights. It's burnt in the rear as usual, but crimped in the front at the blind hole. I have found the FO to come loose. I drill out the front and burn both ends.

RePete
I forgot to add that I countersink the holes slightly. This will make the dot a little larger and makes for a better seating for the FO.
APL-G35
How do they crimp them? The one that was in there was very secure. The problem is that the sight was fit poorly in the dovetail. Way too tight won't move with the sight pusher it just bends. The only real option is too machine it out and replace it if I can't get the fibre installed correctly. RePete
They are crimped on the side of the front portion of the blade. It looks like they use a rounded center punch.

Run a heat gun/blow drier on it for about 10 minutes, then give it a couple of taps and see if it moves. If that doesn't work, throw the slide into the freezer for about 30 minutes or so. The base of the sight should contract more quickly than the slide material and you might be able to get it off that way.
Craig-2008
Drill it and melt both ends, will save you problems down the road.
38superfan
How does it bend the front sight? The dove tail section our are you trying to posh too high up it Anna on the blade portion? Not trying to insult your intelligence by any means.
