Seth Long
Does a gun still fit in production division with internal slide work done to remove weight? The gun will still make the production required weight and would have no visible external modification. Rule book states no milling except for sights, but all internal modifications are allowed. Im unclear on what they mean by the term milling.
stick
Milling is the machining process of using rotary cutters to remove material [1] from a workpiece advancing (or feeding) in a direction at an angle with the axis of the tool. [2][3] It covers a wide variety of different operations and machines, on scales from small individual parts to large, heavy-duty gang milling operations. It is one of the most commonly used processes in industry and machine shops today for machining parts to precise sizes and shapes. Internal mods refer to internal components such as springs, rods, etc..
sperman
From appendix D5 - line 21.2b a slide may be modified specifically for the purpose of installing sights, and for no other purpose and line 22 Please note that the absence of an item in the list of prohibited modifications MAY NOT be construed to mean a modification is allowed. A modification is only allowed in Production Division if there is a rules clause or interpretation which specifically declares that it is allowed in the Division. Seth Long
Thanks everyone for your answers. It was the same answer I came up with, just wanted to second guess myself. appendix D4 21.3 SLIDES: Current rules remain in effect – You may replace the slide with an OEM or aftermarket slide which is of the same length, contour and caliber as the original slide for that model of gun. Has anyone ever seen a person use an aftermarket slide? From reading that, I could have a titanium slide built to match a glock 34 slide and it would be perfectly legal. Yes? JAFO
While App D4, 21.3 states: SLIDES: Current rules remain in effect – You may replace the slide with an OEM or aftermarket slide which is of the same length, contour and caliber as the original slide for that model of gun. You still have the line 22 statement that sperman pointed out above. Just because it doesn't prohibit a different slide material, that doesn't mean it's allowed.
