I'm assuming the new mounts are going to be built to have the sight bolted directly onto instead of using the weaver mount? That should lower it a little bit more.

Cheating happens regardless. If someone is going to cheat I don't believe it matters if their are payouts or not, that is their character. I saw a lot of the, "Ops, I pasted that thought you scored it.", when a buddy had a bad run at a major match this year. I don't see much of it at all at the local level, and you really don't hear about it in the bigger matches unless you hang out with the RM all day and see all the calls he gets for that garbage. I also see sandbagging on classifiers, and showing up and shooting out of your normal division because your a class lower. Its pretty obvious when you know what someone shoots all the time, then they show up at a big match sporting different gear. And for the low level shooters not getting anything. That's why USPSA has classes. No reason you can't award some cool shit to 1-3 D class if the division has enough competitors to justify it. I think I said this earlier, but back when York was running USPSA I won a pretty solid cash payout for winning C class in production. That was cool and we returned until they stopped there program.

I need a good reason to spend hundreds of dollars to shoot a match. I can shoot a local USPSA match every weekend of the month and shoot 2 guns and get 10 stages in. I can shoot 3 gun locally a few times a year. Explain to me why i should drive hours out of my way and pay all that money for a chance at nothing? Maybe others have that kind of money and vacation time to burn, not this guy. If you offer me a match with a payout or one without, im going to the one that pays out. Its not like im going to win anything, but the chance is there.

I'd go to a practical shotgun match way before i'd ever go to a practical rifle match. Rifle does nothing for me. To each his own I guess.

USPSA really lacks in the payout department. I agree, I think the chance at big money draws a lot of people to 3G. York use to be really good at paying out cash to competitors when they had a USPSA program. I know Area 8 has in the past as well. It would be nice to know you have a chance at winning something worthwhile or helping with your expenses. Instead you have find another way to convince yourself that level 2 match is worth the trip/money. I don't need or want a trophy for placing in A class to throw in the reloading room with all the other "feel good" trophys I accumulate. Maybe I need to accumulate a "good payout" match list, and start only attending those matches.

I enjoy 3 gun shooting but am not a huge fan. Simply too much crap has to come out of my gun room and it feels like a chore. I'm more apt to shoot a Shotgun only or Rifle only match then I am a 3 gun. Still, if it came down to a USPSA match or 3 gun, i'd be shooting USPSA. But I do agree the "Tom Foolery" in USPSA could stop anytime now. I enjoy unique challenges in a stage, but not stupid stuff that adds nothing to the challenge.

I hate to ask law questions, but i'd like to shoot the MD state match so I need to know. Girlfriend will be shooting a open gun, little sticks hold 23 big sticks hold 28. I'll be shooting production, 15 round available capacity, with a glock 35. All of our match ammo is loaded with MG hollow points. What issues do I need to address to make it to the state match? Guns locked up, mags and ammo locked up separately? I herd hollow points may be a issue? Last time I went to NY for Area 7 I had to have a paper stating why I was bringing guns into NY signed by the NRA, do I need to get something like that for MD? I emailed the contact from the club hosting the MD state match, and they simply told me I was fine to show up and to tell my friends. Well, i'd like a second opinion.

Recently I decided to shoot some classifiers in open with my girlfriends rig. I'm obviously slower picking up the dot then my sights because I do not practice with the dot, but fast enough the first time I grabbed it I hit a 77%. Since that first classifier she has switched from a traditional mount to a sideways mount, and now It is harder for me to find the dot. With my grip I never had a issue finding the dot on the traditional mount, now with the sideways mount it takes some "fiddling" to find it. That's switching from a glock to 2011. And I plan to do it, as soon as the builder gets my gun done.

Having a choice between green and red would be awesome. Not that I would opt for green, but obviously there is a market for it. Is it worth the added cost/headach? I'm not sure. I'd most likely just buy a red one. Now, get to work. My open gun will be finished beginning of next year, you'll have this done before then so I don't have to buy a c-more right?

The only 40 open shooter I ever personally talked to used 135 grain JHP's from somewhere, nosler maybe?, to get as much powder working the comp. He seemed to like it. I forget which powder he was using.

A quality dot for the 500$ price range is very reasonable. I would jump on one for sure. I have yet to see the pictures though.
