slik40
"Candy-gram for Mongo...Candy-gram for Mongo..." Instantly brought an image back of the film, which I hadn't seen in quite some time. One of the best, most irreverent comedies I have ever seen. Thanks for the flashback......now off to Blockbuster to rent the film again!
benos
I got it on DVD, of course. Truly a classic!

Flexmoney
I think Erik Warren was first on the scene here... Bart: (disbelieving) The Waco Kid. He had the fastest hand in the West. The Waco Kid: In the world. Bart: Well, if you're the Kid, then show me something. The Waco Kid: Well, maybe a couple of years ago, I could have shown you something, but today, look at that. (He holds up his right hand - and it is steady without shaking) Bart: Steady as a rock. The Waco Kid: Yeah, but I shoot with this hand. (His left hand shakes wildly) http://www.filmsite.org/blaz.html
slik40
Flex, Too many good lines/scenes to mention. Mel Brooks was certainly on the top of his game for Blazing Saddles. Some of my other favourites; "Hey mister you can't park here...(Mongo drops horse with punch)" "My name's Jim....but you can call me ....Jim" Sign over Store "Howard Johnsons - 1 Flavour" Cleavon Little to two KKK clad men 'Hey, where the white woman at?" Tatto on the back of Mongo's ox "Yes" on one side "No" on the other.
ErikW
Yeah I ran "Never mind that shjt, here comes Mongo!" for a while. Some of the good stuff wasn't even spoken, like the executioner having both the horse and rider in nooses on the gallows.
jessej
I must confess for the longest time I thought Mongo was someone you guys knew. Since you guys mention that movie it all makes sense now, lol. I was thinking he must be one badass feller. Sorry I can't stop laughing at myself. Flexmoney
I gotta get this for the new DVD player. Erik, I found just found out there was more scenes with Mongo. The TV release has several extra scenes that weren't in the theatrical release. - When Sheriff Bart is trying to capture Mongo, after he delivers the "CandyGram for Mongo", it then shows a "draw on the dummy sheriff" game that fires a cannon at Mongo. - A scene where Bart convinces Mongo to go diving down a well for Spanish Doubloons and Bart stops pumping air to the diving suit because it's time for his lunch break. - Escaping from the "bad guy queue," Jim and Bart encounter a Baptism ceremony. - Governor Le Petomane rides into the fake Rock Ridge in a stagecoach and tries to talk to the fake people. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/store...2857724-5964641
Sam
jessej, if it makes sense after remembering about the movie, it will really make sense if you ever meet Flexmoney in person. I think he could probably "park" a horse Mongo style, with the best of 'em

ErikW
Oh yeah, I got a motorcycle named Mongobike, because it's what he'd ride if he didn't have that bull, and it's like Mongo himself: big, brutishly powerful, simple, and entirely out of place.
