Recoil Master trouble

Was at the range on Sunday and after about 200 rounds I had my first failure to feed in my STI Edge. I've put around 6000 rounds thru it since the end of November when I got it. Anyway, the gun never stopped running but the slide did feel sluggish on the return. So I stopped and went home to clean it and see if I could find out what was wrong.

It didn't take long. When I went to remove the recoil master I could not get the plastic removal tool on it. The large spring seemed like it was binding and I could not push it in far enough. ????

So I cut the lenght of the removal tool down and got it put on. Just barely got it out. Once out I still could not put it together.

Is this what happens when they break???

Yes, happened to me twice................ just get a sold guide rod and plug for your Edge and a 13lb recoil spring and never look back. The Dawson no tool kit is awsome but not required.

I put a one piece guide rod in my Edge on day one. Never had a problem. Cheers.

Received my Dawson tooless guide rod today so back in action. Thumbs up to Dawson Precision who didn't have one in stock and managed to get me one in two days. They rock!!
