Waterfowl-widowmaker
Is there a way to determine which pair of glasses will fit the best. There isn't anyone around here that carries them to go try on and no one I shoot with uses them.
AWLAZS
I was able to find some in a bike shop. Rudy will let you send them back if you don't like the fit. Do you have any special requirement? The Rydon and Magsters are good to look at.
polizei1
I have a small head, I've never been able to find glasses that look good on me and fit comfortably. I'm lucky enough to have a Trek bicycle store near me, so I was able to try several pairs on. The most comfortable for me were the Rydon and Magsters. I picked up the Magsters for $80. njl
My first pair is a Magster. Recently, Rudy kept emailing me about various Christmas/New Year's sales, and I bought a pair of Rydons super cheap. The Magster gives better eye coverage (taller lens, better wrap around protection), but seems to be more prone to fogging, probably because of this. Having used them both for a bit now, I think I actually prefer the Rydons. The Rydons I got on clearance were kind of crazy colors, but in the last days of their sale, I bought black nose and ear pieces for it, and just "rebuilt" them the other night...so they're much lower key now. DonovanM
How about none of them, because none except the Stealth models have any third party impact certifications to speak of. The Stealth models only have Z87, which is the same level of impact resistance as the $10 ones you can find at Walmart. I would recommend using a pair of glasses off the APEL. I love my Oakley Ballistic M-Frames. Check here for the differences between the APEL certification requirement and ANSI Z87: http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/eye-protection-shooting-glasses-review/ Steel and rock ricochets are a big deal, to me at least... I want as much protection for my eyes as I can get.

mikegot38
I have taken a number of hits of splatter off my Rydons and more recently my Genetyks. I still have 2 uninjured eyes thanks to my Rudys.
njl
How have the lenses held up? I bought mine after taking a 230gr JHP to the nose. I don't think I've been hit since.

No "results" to be found. I don't wear my Rudys much anymore. Perhaps it's time I took them to the range and shot them with a 22. They should be able to stop a Short. I find it unfortunate that the only way to be able to quantifiably verify the claims made by Rudy's marketing team is to render unusable my own personal set of glasses, but all in the name of science I guess. The results should be interesting, as I have absolutely zero dog in the fight even despite my disdain at Kevin Gentry's silliness with the shooting squads. njl
Do any safety glasses claim they'll survive/protect against a .22 directly to the eye? The main thing we're concerned with as shooters is ricochets and either partial or complete bullets coming back after hitting a hard target. I don't know what typical ricochet velocity is, but the fully intact 230gr JHP that hit my nose after bouncing off a bowling pin obviously had lost considerable velocity as all it did was cut up my nose.
