PHolsted
I am so *@*^$ frustrated with my Mac and iMovie! I bought a Contour Roam camera and took a few videos and was trying to edit them tonight and 8 hours later I am setting here still trying to figure it out!!!!!!! I just want to throw the keyboard across the room!!!!!! I cant seem to get iMovie to import any files not to mention the dreaded .MOV files. When I click on file- Import- Movies it just keeps locking up when it try's to search. Hell if I did not know any better I would think I was on a PC again or something. Anyone have any ideals? outerlimits
Perhaps u should have bought a supported camera.

XRe
http://forums.mtbr.com/videos-pov-cameras/contour-roam-imovie-759642.html Note - you can probably use something like Handbrake to convert, rather than QT Pro. I've had this issue with files provided by a Sony camera, and used Handbrake to convert to an mp4 container, and all was well ;-) (basically, the AppleTV preset in Handbrake seems to just get it done). It's not a matter of the camera being supported - it's a matter of the type of file the camera creates being supported.
OffshoreMan72
I had the same issues at first. I had to convert all of mine first. I use iVI, it works good for me. Once converted I can get them on iMovie with no problems. Once you get it worked out it does some great video editing.
Nik Habicht
Perhaps u should have bought a supported camera. Or by that token a PC....... .....and I think a Mac Mini might be my next computer, as I appreciate minimalization.....
Nik Habicht
File type conversion of some sort, is likely to be the answer you're looking for....
BritinUSA
What version of iMovie are you using ? I thought the Contour stuff was supported in iMovie '11.

PHolsted
Perhaps u should have bought a supported camera. LOL yeah if someone made one as nice as the contour I would have. That being said most every camera I have every had used .MOV (both of my Cannons, My POV and now my Contour)
PHolsted
I found a video convertor and it worked. The weird thing is I do not remember having to do this in the past with .mov's. Thanks for the help!
bobmysterious
Look into Adobe Premiere, it's much more robust software. Granted, I come from an audio editing background, but it was a lot more intuitive (for me) and easier to learn than iMovie.
outerlimits
I have 2 canons and both work fine with the current version of imovie.
