Chuck Anderson
A few years back I got a very, very good deal on a plate rack from Action Target. $400 shipped. I've replaced the plates on it three times because they cracked almost immediately. The plate rack ended up getting shot in the bar that locks the plates in place. Unless I get out there with a cutting torch it's basically worthless. Same thing with a dueling tree I won. Plates crack after minimal use. I've used some steel from other manufacturers and I've shot on steel all around the country. I've started only buying MGM after seeing how well it holds up to everything thrown at it. We've had an MGM plate rack for three years now. I spraypainted it yesterday and it looks new. Not even a hint of use. I've seen the steel at MGM hold up to all sorts of handgun and rifle fire. Plus MGM is incredible to deal with. There are a couple ways to buy steel. Go cheap and replace it often. Or pay for quality and it will out last you. mjl
Thanks for all the recommendations. I did go with MGM (duh) but scored some great prices (35% off)on the used targets from the Nationals. They posted their smoking deals on their vendor page in the for sale section of the forum. Their quality and those prices made it an easy choice.
Dragon11
At one of our local clubs we have had an MGM plate rack for over 12 years, still works great, you made a good choice going with them.

Sarge
I went with MGM today for a new whirlygig (star). I got nothing but promises from GT. I'm sure they make good stuff too but if you want my money it often takes more than that.
