G34 CORDY
What company should I buy from Limcat, SVI, Matt Mclearn or another to get a extended firing pin from? Iam new to the 2011 platform so Iam not sure which one is better than the other or is all of them good.
yoshidaex
All the brands you list will work.
G-ManBart
As usual, answered many times before...this is a fraction of what comes up under "extended firing pin". Was that a really tricky search or something? http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87685&view=findpost&p=1009090 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32949&view=findpost&p=378441 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22315&view=findpost&p=261164 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66537&view=findpost&p=771712 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11137&view=findpost&p=128915 Edited April 19, 2011 by G-ManBart

G34 CORDY
I ordered the Matt Mclearn M2i and ISMI 15lb main spring. There are alot of mixed reviews with the 15lb main spring but if I dont like it I can take it out. Who here has a 15lb main spring on a STI Edge .40 and how do you like it or dont like it? yoshidaex
15 lbs is on the light side. If you intend on running that light, I suggest using federal primers since they light off the easiest. I run a 18 lbs mainspring and light off all brands and types of primers.
G34 CORDY
Will the 15lb main spring help with muzzle rise?
yoshidaex
Will the 15lb main spring help with muzzle rise? This is a loaded question. Changing main springs can affect the dynamics of the gun in positive or negative ways. I went from a 20 to 18 lbs and didn't see much of a change in how the dot moves but it did lighten my trigger pull from 24 oz to about 20 oz. Using a trigger pull scale of course
G34 CORDY
I just figured that the less energy it takes to move the hammer via the slide during recoil the less the muzzle would rise. Iam going to try it out this weekend and see if its reliable or if I even like it.

EkuJustice
I would have a 17 pound also especially with factory trigger parts. I also run a McLean extended FP in mine. A 17 is a good compromise between reliability and feel Edited April 20, 2011 by EkuJustice
G-ManBart
Will the 15lb main spring help with muzzle rise? I know you're going to find this absolutely hysterical, but this too, has been answered many times before http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=126106&view=findpost&p=1423698 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=112861&view=findpost&p=1280498 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=114024&view=findpost&p=1293504 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96363&view=findpost&p=1101575 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=105206&view=findpost&p=1196743 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75880&view=findpost&p=878151 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55327&view=findpost&p=641791 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23739&view=findpost&p=276806 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25887&view=findpost&p=300440 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14937&view=findpost&p=173111 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14429&view=findpost&p=166906 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6725&view=findpost&p=80146

blaster113
is an extended firing pin necessary for an Edge? I can understand the need for it with primer flow in an open gun. Ran about 10k of .40 major out of an Edge and another 4k out of the new .40 major gun with the regular STI firing pin with nary an issue.
sfinney
Extended firing pins can help reliability in any competition gun. Its not for primer flow, its for making sure they go bang.

I like it because it will set those not so perfectly seated primers off. I also run 18lbs mainsprings.
blaster113
good points, I'll be switching my stock one out in my Limited gun. running 17lb mainsprings in both Limited and Open guns. Edited April 20, 2011 by SIG shooter
EkuJustice
+1 all my guns that will take them (just need to find one for a 45) have extended FP/Striker glocks and 1911/2011. With a weaker hit or a primer not quite set right it will still set it off. Light MS helps with flip but too light and you risk problems.
blaster113
in regards to firing pin springs, is an extra power spring recommended or does it matter? my guns have XP springs but I was just curious
EkuJustice
The guy doing the trigger work on mine said to just run the regular FP spring with the lighter main spring. On a regular main spring Im not sure it really matters. Mine all have the ISMI springs in them
