Aircooled6racer
Hello: I know the Bedell shorty I had liked lots of gas through the titanium comp. HS-6 was best then Silhouette usinf 115 grain bullets. 3N37 was the hardest on the hand but still not that bad. I am not against drilling "Hill Hell Holes" in the barrel to flatten it out. Thanks, Eric
PaulW
Yep I always had hybrid holes drilled until I shot the Bedell comp. After shooting it without hybrid holes I no longer have a need for them. I have shot just about every load combination out there and while some are better it finding on that works consistant. I have talked at length to Max Michael and while he says his load with IMR 7625 is not the flattest load it gives him a very clean predictable dot lift (aka easier to call your shots). Flatter is not always better. And Bedell has done as much R&D into comps as anyone. I have seen the bucket full of his experimental comps that he made for R&D. Your best bet, to save a ton of time and money (and aggrevation) is to pick a good comp, a good safe load, and the right spring setup, and go learn the timing of your gun. The rest is just waisted effort that will lead you down the road of confusion.

shooterbenedetto
The Dawson Awesome (aka Todd Jarrett) Comp. http://www.sashooter...p?g2_itemId=797 So Good I got a Pair of them: http://www.sashooter...p?g2_itemId=794 Bedel TI - Ben there done that: http://www.sashooter...p?g2_itemId=755 Nobody said Brazos yet: http://www.sashooter...p?g2_itemId=743 I like my Dawson Comped guns the best, they are flat and soft with just about any load. Coco I have tried a 115g open major clocking at 1520s with a full slide and autocomp. compensator is brazos thundercomp with 3 holes. Not soft shooting, its flat with minimal lift inside cmore(half glass lift)..Ilike alittle more lift so I can track dot better..if its too small, i cant tell where the dot lifted? hope this makes sense. Can you describe the dot lift on your dawson comp with 2 side ports and 4 sideports(aka todd Jarred)? thanks. I really miss my first major 9mm..it was so flat shooting. it had 4 taperred barrel, mild scallop behind 5.0 slide and 2 aggressive big ports comp on it. http://staticthumbs3...2742ad66c57.jpg Almost all of our unhappiness comes from comparing ourselves to others, same goes for open guns. Don't shoot someone elses gun you migh fall in love with it then you are unhappy with yours. Dot movement with the Dawson DP 2 is from about the bottom of the A-Zone to the top of the A-Zone. It don't move a whole lot. Now this is with the optimum load, change the bullet or powder and you can get more movement and a bit more recoil. My smith shot the gun and just pulling the trigger like an idiot he would consistently get 2 A's. I don't do that I follow the dot. My Brazos comped gun with no holes (its a shorty) it is fairly soft but has a bit of flip but not bad. Autocomp was too erratic in the shorty, silhouette works better. Now in the Dawson DP2 gun AutoComp works just as good as Silhouette, in fact you can't tell the difference. I'd think you would be the expert you have owned and shot probably a 100 open gun in the last 6 months right? Coco..any difference in dot moevement from DP1(1 side port your black gun) and DP2(2 side port your silver gun)? can you tell me your load in autocomp and recoil spring? CocoBolo
? Coco..any difference in dot moevement from DP1(1 side port your black gun) and DP2(2 side port your silver gun)? can you tell me your load in autocomp and recoil spring? Answer: There isn't any distinguishable difference in the two comps. My load with 125gr RN Zero is 7.0gGr of AutoComp at 1.165. I run 10# springs on my guns, it seems to work best for my lack of skill and style. In my shorty I run a 11# but that has a ThunderComp#. Preferred load w/125gr RN Zero is 7.7gr of Silhouette. Keep in mind that the gun has a slide weight < 10 oz and it is a cone comp, very light weight. So your milage we vary with a big heavy clunker bull gun. shooterbenedetto
Ron,Thanks..I'm sold on the DP comp. Just ordered one in .687 x 40. Say, didn't know you are left eye dominant? Just my observation.. Edited November 12, 2010 by shooterbenedetto
supreme135
The M2I comp is pretty cool. Matt design is very deep and effective. My only conplaint is that it's heavy. I run the Brozo's now
Parallax3D
I like 5. Mine is similar to Matt's. but I have an extra top port. They are all smaller ports too. First port is 1/4", the rest are 3/16". BTW Matt, I think you might know the guy who built my gun, Darren Mulford.
