Hi-Power Jack
H.P.J. Yes, I agree it can be frustrating to find what you want sometimes. But if it's real hard to do, we're probably doing something wrong. Try this search string in the advanced search box (looks like a little gear in the upper right corner) and see if it doesn't narrow your results. +HS*6 +9mm +major in the 9mm/38 Caliber sub-forum. The string is "spaced" like this. +HS*6[space]+9mm[space]+major and that's important. You should see 71 very pertinent results. Good hunting! Thanks, Jman, I never was any good at using the search function. By the way, for what it's worth, I wasn't complaining (reading my own beginning note, it looks to ME like I WAS complaining about how hard it is to make a search, or how much time it took me to find the info). BUT, I wasn't complaining at all, and am delighted that this wealth of info is available to me (and us) so I don't have to start from a reloading book:(( The info here is FANTASTIC - extremely helpful - as a matter of fact, if it weren't for all this info, I wouldn't be brave enough/smart enough to even attempt to load 9mm major. My hats off to all those brave souls who went before, and were kind enough to publish their results for us. BUT, it's frustrating looking for 9mm major info, and keep finding 3.6 gr TG over a 147 grain bullet:(( But, from now on, I'll try this new approach to browsing... So, again, thanks for the info. GrumpyOne
I'd suggest do a split from now on going forward. Individual thread starters of old threads could (if they wanted) just post a link to the old thredd in the new catagory. Or, if you found a good thread in the old group you could post a link. I think we'd quickly capture the most popular / useful data in the new category. That's by $0.02. I agree. Sounds like a good approach. Jack +1. 9mm really deserves its own area now. I agree. Let's make a forum for all of these so us super shooters don't have to wade through all of the 9mm stuff. 9x18mm Makarov 9x18mm Police (9mm Ultra) 9mm Browning Long (9x20mm Browning SR) 9mm Glisenti 9x19mm Parabellum (9mm Luger, 9x19mm NATO) 9mm Federal 9x21mm IMI 9x21mm Gyurza (9x21mm SP-10) 9mm Action Express (9mm AE) 9x23mm Steyr 9mm Largo (9mm Bergmann-Bayard, 9x23mm Largo) 9mm Super Cooper (9x22mm Super Cooper) 9x23mm Winchester 9mm Mars 9x25mm Mauser (Export caliber for C96) 9mm Winchester Magnum 9x25mm Dillon 9x25mm Super Auto G 9x30mm Magnum (9mm Dillon Magnum) .380 ACP (9x17mm Browning Short) Really, leave the forum alone. Learn how to search. If the forum starts segregating forums into major and minor calibers, it's just gonna get more confusing.
Jman
BUT, it's frustrating looking for 9mm major info, and keep finding 3.6 gr TG over a 147 grain bullet:(( Yes, no question. It holds true too when your looking at what you believe is 9 major data in that forum, only to discover your reading 38 Super or Super Comp data. We have to very carefully sift our way through the stuff in the 9mm/38 Caliber sub-forum.
sidnal
When I started shooting 9 Open it was very challenging to find the information in a thread that is mixed with 9 minor, 38 Super and many more. I've spent hours in this thread. Even if you type +major and -minor and -38 and +toenail you are uncertain that all of the information is displayed. I've found it just as challenging to find 9 production loads when they are mixed with all of the other info. Yeah, sure there are a bunch of misc 9mm ammo but 95%+ are 9x19 prod or Open... There it too much information in there for one thread. There is: a thread for .45. a thread .40/10mm another for all of the rest. That doesn't seem very well distributed. Separate threads under "General Reloading & Data" would be very helpful on a go forward basis. Edited September 10, 2010 by sidnal
MoNsTeR
How on earth would anyone know to use *, +, or -? The search page provides no such tips, and it is highly unusual for forum searches to support these operators.
