HELP! Springfield EMP creasing all my brass.

Don't know what's causing this. Can anyone help? It is a very sharp crease as you can see.

Looks like the brass is hitting the ejection port on the way out. Will the crease come out when size the brass ?

I doubt it. I've never seen sizing remove an indentation.

I would say either extractor is too tight, or ejector is too long. You may call Springfield and see if they can help before trying to remedy something yourself or with a local 'smith.

if your emp is new i would give it a couple thousand rounds to break in. i have a kimber with the very infamous external extractor (have ran a flawless 3-4k plus rounds by the way ) and it left the exact same mark in nearly an identical spot. the more rounds i fired, the less pronounced the dent became and now it no longer exists. fwiw i really hated those dents also. keep shooting, thats my solution!

No reason you can't reload that brass. Doubt it will shorten brass life severely.

How much do you plan to shoot your EMP?

I'd expect it's meant to be carried a lot, and shot a little.

Take one of those pieces of brass and reload it, you might just be surprised. I've load brass cases that have been deformed worse than your pictures and had zero problems.

I got my first Dillon back in....1984 if memory serves, and have been pulling the handle every since - absent a blissful year or so when I was sponsored by Black Hills. If I haven't loaded over 100k rounds I'm certainly closing hard on it. I asked that question because, in my experience, the sort of creases we're seeing on the OP's brass have absolutely no affect on the reloadability or functionality of the brass.

What power factor loads are you using? i had the same issue with mine when I first got it using the 130 FMJ loads that I normally shoot out of my G34. I bumped it up to 136 and no problems since.

I carry mine alot and shoot it alot... if you have an EMP9 you would understand.
