308 Bullet Recommendations

I'm just getting started loading for 308 and I need some advice on selecting a cost effective bullet to begin shooting. I'm not talking about a super quality match grade bullet here. I looking for a bullet I can use for general practice and shooting - 308 "plinking" if you will. My rifle manufacturer recommends 165 to 168 grain bullets.

Any suggestions?

Honady A maxes are a great choice, or I think its the XTM bullet as well. I like the 155's but they make a 168 as well.

Buy a some of the Prvi bullets from Wideners and load them up. See if your rifle likes them.

i had great luck with nosler 168 ballistic tips out to 600yds

Hornady rounds tend to shoot great, if you want cheap rounds try the 150 FMJBT. I've gotten great accuracy out of my rifle with them. I know they aren't in your manufactures specs but going lighter shouldn't show any negative performance.

The privi bullets aren't accurate but they're good for practice.
