stingerjg
Im gettin a S_I built by my gunsmith. Ive already paid to get it hard chromed. Should i wait for a while to get it done and shoot it in 'the white' for a few thousand rounds first? Or is it ok to get it done right away? BrianH
Getting it plated right away is okay, but you'll probably get a few hundred rounds of sticking. The cool thing is once it is broken in, it will stay tight for thousands and thousands of rounds.

EricW
What's the "correct" choice in lapping compounds for such a task? Flitz/Wenol?

Run n Gun
Small thread drift Eric, I talked to Virgil about the time he got out of the chroming business and was redesigning his website. I mentioned to him that there’s very little reliable data out there on hard chrome and I was going to miss the “Technical Information” section of his site as I routinely refer people there. Much to my surprise Vigil told me he would incorporate it into the new site. This should answer a lot of questions including your one about lapping. trippresearch.com Ed
