kmca
Does someone know the reasoning behind 40 cal minimum for major in Limited? If 38 super and 9mm can be major calibers in open, why not Limited? Was it an attempt to limit ammunition capacity?
Gary Stevens
I believe the short answer is the BOD did not want to obsolete many many shooters current Limited guns, and many hundereds of dollars investments, by starting a new arms race to maximize round capacity. Alan Meek
To add to the reasoning, when limited division was created, ammo that made major had to be available in the commercial market. I thought that it was supposed to be offered by at least companies too. And this was at least a 175pf then.
Gary Stevens
I believe that was three commercial ammo companies Alan, not sure, but I think so.
kmca
Thanks for the answers. What do you think is the possibility that they'll let us use 38 super in Limited Major anytime in the future?
ima45dv8
Thanks for the answers. What do you think is the possibility that they'll let us use 38 super in Limited Major anytime in the future? Oh, somewhere between slim and none.

Bob Hostetter
I am pretty sure that when Limited was created, no one had any Limited guns to obsolete so the restriction to 40 cal and above was based on something other then comcern for the competitors. People had guns without comp's that they could shoot in a subcatagory commonly called "Stockgun" but there weren't too many 40 cal STI's without comp's or dots around yet.
