tracker
The breech face on our new M&P shows a concave detail just under the firing pin hole. There has only been about 200 rounds through this gun so far. The primer on the fired cases shows that metal is flowing into this concave detail. I have inspected it under magnification and cannot tell if it was machined or some sort of damage. The fired case that was supplied with the gun also matches this. It does not appear to be affecting anything. Has anyone ever seen this before? I have not been able to look at the breechface on another M&P yet. I am wondering if I should report it to Smith & Wesson in case anything changes later? I am going to take it to work and check it under the microscope. I can also get some better pics with the high resolution camara on our CMM. Rich
Dan Burwell
absolutly 100% normal. S&W machines that tear drop in to help prevent shaving bits of primer into the FP hole. No need to look closer at.
Darrin
My two M&P's have the same shape indentation on the breech face. The brass comes out looking identical to your photo.
