Never a need for anything other than Dillon in 9mm and my 9mm goes back and forth between STI and Glock. The problems that I've had with .40s can be counted on the fingers of one hand. I use Lee FCDs, FWIW.

After shooting Production for years with a DOH I recently began shooting Limited with a CR Speed. I set it up with a slight forward cant and a position slightly in front of where I used to run the DOH. Felt like that gave me better/faster/straighter access to the grip on the draw.
But after a class Saturday with Max Michel Jr. and Blake Miguez, I'm beginning to question my setup. They both make a strong case for a holster position closer to where I used to run the DOH, so I'm re-examining my thinking. Orientation of the pistol directly to the target from the draw is the basis for their reasoning.
In thinking about it, after shooting from the DOH for years, I could break a one second draw from it on a close target so the DOH and that position is plenty fast enough.
The safety question you raise is also a pertinent point.

It is not crimped and was a decent enough round in my rifle, especially at the price. I've reloaded some of it in the past when I first started loading for rifle because that's the factory ammo I was using, although now I have standardized on Winchester brass. I had some problems with a "sticky" bolt but that may have been because I pushed the shoulder back a bit further than necessary when I resized it instead of just neck sizing. I wouldn't be afraid to give some a try if I were you.

[*]Be sure Priming Operating Rod Bracket (13887) is adjusted so it's within a few thousands of an inch from the top of frame/Toplhead.
Thanks, Brian. Don't know how I missed this in the past but this has resolved a frustrating series of primers problems I've been having for quite some time.

I pulled off the target to reseat the mag and I and the RO both knew that I did not intend to fire that shot. I thought about fighting the call but decided against it.
I respect the way you handled that, Scott. Anybody who knows you will know that's in keeping with your character.

One available. Just PM with your name and address.

Excellent job in both the match and as an RO. You did yourself proud, buddy.

Coolest thing, for me, in the match thus far: watching a bunch of Juniors, including some real young 'uns, running Stage 6 (an E ticket ride). They handled all those ports and a door safely and with superlative gun handling skills. Really put a grin on my face. Great job guys and gals, and my compliments to the folks who taught you well.

Bobby Keigans of Freedom Gunworks is a vendor at the Gator Classic this weekend and I talked with him a bit yesterday. He has some of his lightened 6 in. guns, including the match random drawing gun, on display. He makes a compelling case from an engineering standpoint on the advantages of a lightened 6 in. gun. Give him a call sometime and discuss it with him. I've always found him extremely open and helpful.
BTW, I have his Atranite finish on my Limited gun and it seems as wear-proof as hard chrome, if you like matte black, which I do. The price is right, too.

According to the match booklet schedule, hammer down Saturday and Sunday is at 8 a.m.
On Saturday, Squad 1 starts on Stage 1, etc., with Squad 13 starting at chrono.
As Spanky said, we'll see y'all In The Dome (Stage 6).

unsupported should be scratched, this gives everyone with a slideracker an advantage.
Huh?
Are you saying we should let them start "supported" so that there is equal grounds? I don't think I've seen many open guns without sliderackers so it's really a moot point.
In discussing this issue once with a NROI RMI, I was told that if it's a permanent attachment to the gun (slideracker), then it isn't considered support."Flat on the table," means the same thing. Either covers the obvious problem of someone propping up the gun with a magazine—once I had a competitor try to game this with propping up the gun with a scope cover for a mini-dot sight. Nope.

It's all about the feel...147 gr for me.

I'd love to get in on this...just a few minutes from my house. My new-to-me Limited pistol finished off the discretionary income for the year, unfortunately.
Had the pleasure of squadding with Max at Area 4 when he and Blake shot with the ROs. Ought to be a super class.

PM or e-mail Spanky (post#88) and he should be able to help you.

When I got my used STI, the original STI magwell and the Dawson were an easy swap. Just knock out the pin (it helps to have an extra long punch) and replace. Direct replacement.

Check out this thread for a nice 6 in. with dual top ends (.40 & 9mm) that Bobby Keigans at Freedom Gunsworks built. Bobby is a nice guy to deal with both before and after the sale in the work he has done on my pistols. If I were springing for a custom, I'd call Bobby and would be asking for something like this: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=115573

Are we there yet?
...no, but we're getting dang close.
It's always a fun match and one where everybody seems to have a great time.
See y'all there.

Normally they are bent out a little.
I personally have always run the Lone Wolf 3.5# connectors, if you're looking to try something new.

I use a Sharpie on all my brass across the back of the brass/primer. I also polish the heck out of it so that if I see a super shiny piece in the brass pile after a match it's either mine or fresh factory from someone who doesn't reload...either way I win

Have you carefully lubed the interface between the connector and the trigger bar. Some Glocks I've seen with crazy heavy pulls had some galling in that area due long term lack of lube in that spot. Also check that the trigger bar has not bent and is rubbing excessively on the inside of the frame.

Also, it's important to note that there is no double jeopardy on penalties. Per the recent rules revisions 10.2.2: A competitor who fails to comply with a procedure specified in the written stage briefing will incur one procedural penalty for each occurrence. However, if a competitor has gained a significant advantage during non-compliance, the competitor may be assessed one procedural penalty for each shot fired, instead of a single penalty (e.g. firing multiple shots contrary to the required position or stance). Do not apply two different penalties for the same offense, (e.g. not firing the required rounds in a Virginia Count stage; competitor gets a miss [my addition: or in this case, the extra shot penalty] and no procedural).
This is the sort of question discussed in the USPSA Rules forum here, and would have probably have received more attention there.

Two procedurals for the two shots fired after the point where the mandatory reload should have occurred [per 10.2.4: A competitor who fails to comply with a mandatory reload will incur one procedural penalty for each shot fired after the point where the reload was required until a reload is performed.], plus the penalties for two extra shots on a Virginia count stage.
Note that it doesn't make any difference that he re-engaged the target after reloading, per 10.1.4 [Procedural penalties cannot be nullified by further competitor action. For example, a competitor who fires a shot at a target while faulting a line will still incur the applicable penalties even though he subsequently shoots at the same target while not faulting the line.]

Why did it take a noob wanna be CRO to actually read the set up instructions?
Kevin, it seems everybody always "knows" the rules, until somebody actually reads the rules/instructions and points out they are mistaken. At that point, confronted with the words in black and white, they will still find a way to quibble. As Daniel Patrick Monihan once said: "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts."
More seriously, it seems as you've discovered that the instructions are not sufficiently detailed to ensure the stage will be set up exactly the same from club to club.

+1 for Bobby at Freedom Gun Works. He's done work recently on both my Limited gun and my Trojan, including some sweet 1.75# triggers.
He has a Youtube video up on the work he did recently on my Trojan.

I have NEVER had a single problem with mine...not a single round that didn't register no matter what the time of day or lighting conditions. Can't same the same of my PACT which is now gathering dust. I just wish the remote was a little cheaper.
