  1. Early to mid March, cold, rain, snow, warm to very warm and clear. Late March into early April, thunderstorms, tornadoes and warm to hot and humid. My vote is hold it later.
  2. Have/had similar problems with Wolf SR primers in a CZ-75 SP01. Just kept increasing the primer seating depth until the problem went away. Normally, would not recommend that but I'm not the only one in the local area that experienced the same problem and all have done the same to correct it.
  3. You do have a tough choice. I recently purchased a 1911 STI just to shoot Single Stack USPSA for variety. Been shooting Production with a CZ-75 SP01 for ~3 yrs, prior to that Limited & L-10. (Really bummed over the recent rules changes that require the FPB.) If I had to choose between the 1911 and a CZ, I think I would choose the CZ reluctantly over the 1911. The reason is that you can shoot it in Production, Limited, and Limited 10 (albeit minor). And, your ammo costs will be lower. With the 1911 you can only shoot Limited or L-10. You could shoot Open but would never be competitive. Don't know if USPSA/IPSC is part of your shooting plans or not but that is my 2 cents. P.S. While I can tell the difference in the FPB vice without it in dry fire, I really cannot tell much of a difference in it in matches. None-the-less I would strong urge you to go with a CZ-85, CZ-75 Shadow, or any other USPSA legal CZ-75/85 model that does not have a FPB. P.P.S. eerw is one of your best sources of info on CZs. Trust him.
  4. Does anyone know of extended basepads for STI (ACT-MAG) 1911 mags? Thanks in advace for your reply/replies.
  5. By no meanings a IPSC rules expert, however, I don't think any 140mm mags will fit the box for Standard. I think you have to use 126mm and base pads could make the mag to long to fit the box. Word to the wise is check the IPSC rules carefully and don't make a mistake. See if you can find a competitor somewhere who has/does shot internationally.....

Check firing pin spring and channel. Does the pistol still have the firing pin block installed? If so, see if there are signs of the block no completely moving out of the way of the firing pin and obstructing the forward motion of the FP. What are the symptons on the failure to eject. The ejector may need to be refaced. Gene
  7. I shoot Titegroup with Zero 125gr JHPs and MG 124 JHPs (which ever is cheaper in bulk) using 3.9 grs Titegroup. Win primers (SP or SR), Fed (SP), CCI (SP), Wolf (SR) primers. Load consistently stays at 129-131 PF. COL 1.25"

Check Champion too. I think several sights will work but will require some milling. http://www.championgunsights.com/
  9. I have a 75 SP01 Mx history: 14,812 slide stop broke. 18,036 trigger spring broke 22,720 slide stop broke 27,175 extractor broke 28,709 rnd count as of today. Perfectly happy with reliability of the pistol!! These are components that will break eventually (unless replaced at regular intervals as preventative mx). Like Ando says, you have to maintain the pistol....
  10. Anyone have ideas on barrel life on CZ75/85s? I have an SP01 with approx. 29k rnds through it. Still shoots great so no problems but eventually the barrel will wear out.
  11. 3.9 gr Titegroup; 1.2 COL; 124/125 gr JHP either MG or Zero whichever is cheaper in >= 3K orders; Win SP/SR, Fed 100s (I think-its their SP); brass Fed, Win, R-P; consistently chronos at 129-131 PF from my CZ-75 SP01 (28k rnds through it) and chronoed on a CED M2 chrono with IR screens in a coffin. Chronoed from ~50 to 93 degs and don't see any significant variation. Working on a Solo 1000 load; nothing worth posting yet. Trying Wolf primers now. Having some difficulty get consistent seating depth with has led to some click, bang (when I can remember to pull the trigger twice vice rack the slide-they always fire the second time). For me, jury is still out on Wolf primers but I think its me NOT the primers. No chrono data yet using the Wolf primers on my standard load. Load seems snappy but soft if that makes sense to you. Its what I want in feel. Hope this helps.
  12. I have what I hope is not a dumb question.... How can you hoard something you cannot find for sale? Primers (not to mention bullets, brass, and powder) are virtually non-existent locally (Colorado Springs). The one store I could find with primers only (3-5k total in stock & I had more than they did at home) was rationing at 1k per customer; I didn't purchase because the quanity wasn't worth it. Left them for someone else really needed "a few" primers. Haven't found a single vendor on the Internet with primers in stock for months. Place one order 4/5 and am waiting (at least they accepted the order)......
  13. I appreciate your comments and agree--well said, Bruce Another point came up today in discussing specifically the no walk through at the upcoming Area 2 match but the issue should not be limited to just that match. The issue is really any match that does not provide adequate time for competitors to examine the stages and formulate a shooting plan. What would happen at any match without adequate time to formulate a shooting plan if shooters that were not prepared came to the line and stated they were not ready to shoot because they did not have a shooting plan? How are the ROs going to address the issue. I don't believe there is anything that would address that in the current rules. Match timelines would be out the window. Certainly not anything the staff or competitors want IMHO. Nor am I advocating there should be such a rule(s).
  14. I view the rules quoted being used to justify why not to allow walk throughs as opposed to a way to manage the walk through. Prior to the adding of these rules, there was nothing prohibiting or allowing walk throughs. What appears to be a way manage when and how walk throughs are conducted is now being used to prohibit them. I also view fairness to all a red herring. The match dates are published will in advance. Most people can schedule their time to arrive soon enough to register and review the stages. There will always be some, who for unforeseen or uncontrollable reasons, cannot arrive "on-time". So the staff will punish all shooters for the sake of a few. If the match staff says no walk through (certainly within their right), then ALL squads should only recieve five minutes. The top level shooter who has not achieved super squad status my make more use of the extra few minutes the super squad was allowed that the he/she did not receive. That is grossly unfair the shooter who does not get the extra time. Since shooter schedules vary, without walk throughs, some shooters will see others shoot the stages, talk to those who have, and formulate a shooting plan. Another shooter may not be able to do the same. That too is grossly unfair to the shooter who walks onto a stage cold and has only five minutes to come up with a plan. I don't know the squad sizes but if they are 15/squad, then each shooter gets 20 seconds to come up with a shooting plan. How many of you who shot last year want to come up with a plan for the "Fort stage" in 20 seconds? If you are the first shooter in the squad, you are toast. If you are the last you might have a plan that works. Is that fair?
  15. Last year's walk through prior to the match was a disaster. Yes you can; no you can't. Get the heck off the stage. During the match some ROs allowed walk through if the stage was not in use. One on occasion an RO allowed us to walk through an idle stage. When the CRO arrived we were summarily told to leave in a very rude and antagonistic manner. What is even worse is if some shooters received special favors (i.e., that the super squad got to walk through or were allowed longer than 5 minutes on some or all stages). (I do not know this for fact but I trust my sources.) After the match we were insured this would not be the case this year. I've learned that walk throughs will not be allowed! What the heckwas the commitment about last year? I've never seen a major match where shooters were not allowed walk through on a non-interference basis. I'm seriously thinking of with drawing. I'd rather spend my money where the match staff is shooter friendly.
  16. I'm familiar with the match. I shot through on Sunday, in the rain... I found the stages some of the best I've seen since the 1999 or 2000 Mile Hi Shootout! The most fun I've had at a match in a long time. Were there low ports the referenced stage? There were. However, the shooting challenge presented a realist scenario. I cannot recall a Nationals in the last 4-5 years that did not require you get up off a "bed" or "recliner". I have also seen lower ports at Nations as well. M More and more matches are requiring you to toss or throw something through a port and it is a realist situation. I believe every one of the stages reflected some sort of practical shooting challenge that could be realistically expected in life. By the way, I am not young (age 59), agile (surgically repaired herniated disc at L3-L4, two shoulder surgeries--the most recent last November that kept me from shooting until late March, and when I shot the match I as recovering--if you ever can--from a blood clot (DVT) in my left leg, was still taking coumadin (aka warfrin, aka rat poison), and had not be able to exercise since prior to the last shoulder surgery). Oh, I almost forgot, I'm like too many Americas—I’m over weight and like most people my age my eyes aren't what they were when younger. I'll go back in a heart beat to shoot that match again because the MD knows how to make stages fun, realist, and challenging. And, I'll weigh less, be in better condition, stronger, and quicker because like every athletic sport (and IPSC certainly is) it requires a great degree of physical skills. As I get older, I'll adjust as best I can but I'll never compete with a 20-35 year old who is simply stronger, faster, quicker, better eyes, and a better shooter because of it. But, I can still enjoy the challenge......
