  1. You'll be fine with the TP9. I used my P9 for a few matches. Just make sure you have at least 5 mags total.
  2. Does Glock even have any engineers on the payroll? I wonder if these 4th-gen guys are contractors.
  3. I went to their website looking for more information on the Nov/Dec article and noticed they had the STI Grandmaster article online: http://www.americanhandgunner.com/FTR09.html
  4. Cool article, but was anyone else wondering if that introduction was written by Ayn Rand?
  5. At least after all this training, the Hollywood actors turn into big champions of gun rights, don't they?
  6. I shot a few matches with a Kahr P9, which was the only centerfire handgun I owned at the time. I used the 8 round magazines. No one said anything. It's just a local match, so just show up with whatever you want and see if anyone complains. Be careful slamming the Pro-Mags home. I saw a guy using them with his PM9 and he sheared the magazine release off inside the receiver. I never found out the details, but my guess is that mags dug into the plastic since there was nothing to bottom out on.
  7. Brief comments from someone new to the sport: Do the large matches usually have random free raffles outside of the prize table? I've never been to one. I've pretty much lost my Type A personality, so I will let the competitors worry about how to distribute their prizes. However, as a new shooter, it seems like it would be fun to win something at random. (Maybe a box of ammo??) I don't need a reward or a recognition to feel good about myself, I just think it would endear me more to the support. It's like shaking the hand of your state governor. I'd think, "hey, that's neat!" as I happily signed up for my next match. I'm not trying to demand that the prize gods recognize the unwashed mashes because we are the future of the sport or anything; I just think free raffles sound fun. Maybe after thousands of hours of practice I will be more jaded.
  8. No practical shooting content. I just like the picture. Don't feel the need to comment on my technique; I knew even less there than I do now. Another favorite, this time with the little sister. She giggled at how ridiculous the recoil was and went back to the .22 after a few clips. That reminds me, I need to get her out to an IDPA match. I figure it'd be easier to get her involved because little sisters look up to their big brothers, unlike girlfriends that just roll their eyes!!
  9. That was cute. I always get a chuckle out of the cheesy little transitions that local reporters do. Reminds me of the classic parodies from The Daily Show. Like Brian Unger walking through a field casually brushing aside a branch, and then in the next scene trying to nonchalantly crawl out of a thicket while giving his report. Haha!Great stuff, I wish they'd do a report like that here locally. If only there was someone else to set it all up!
  10. Are the stock sights really that bad for casual Production class use?
  11. I did the second time I had my XD9 out. Make sure your thumb isn't riding the slide release. Not sure if that was my problem since I haven't tried to reproduce it, but 800 rounds later and no more issues.
  12. Good point, and it's also mean-spirited to belittle their achievement because for some people at the top in some sports or businesses, winning is all they have! If you're an also-ran but have your health and a stable family, at least let the CEO/champion enjoy his reward.
