  1. Don't know if would meet the homologation rules, but you can buy a non ported compensator and cut the dovetail for the front sight. Install that to your barrel. Since we can shoot custom guns that "mimic" factory guns as longs as it was similar to the Tru-sight I would think it to be fine. That is if the non-ported comp was a short one (single chamber). Although I vaguely remember something about not being able to install "add-on" things. Since the Trubor is part of the barrel that may be how it achieves legal status.
  2. I put the rod in from the muzzle, the brush into the chamber and pull it out. I'm going to get a snake to make it easier for a quick pull through job.
  3. Everyone always says to clean the barrel from the chamber end, but I can clean the barrel while it's still in the frame for a quickie scrub down. Maybe I'll have to do that.
  4. As far as mileage, I want to be able to shoot a major match without having to de-lead the barrel at lunch. 400 rounds max. I clean my barrel very thoroughly after (nearly) every match. I'm getting pretty good at cleaning out leaded barrels (steel12's), but need it to last all day without too much drop in accuracy.
  5. Thanks for the input! I'll stick to the 5.0 and 5.2 and see what it does over the chrono.
  6. Lead. Cast Lead. Can't afford anything else, unless I build some more guns... I can buy x3 as many lead as I can anything else. Switching from 180gr Bear Creeks (no longer available) to 170gr SWC .40's. Looking for load data using Universal Clays. I went back as far page 9 via the search engine. I have info using WST but I don't know how close that is to UC. The SWC's are a SNUG fit as they are .402. I've already opened up the throat a bit due to the .401 moly's and the .402's are still snug. BUC is supposed to be right on for major PF. Hope the smoke isn't as bad as I'm expecting. If I can get 400 rounds between barrel scrubbing without much loss in accuracy I'm buying 10k of these. I had been loading the UC to 4.8 and hitting around 950 fps. I need to hit 1000fps now. Anyone have any data on hand for 170's with UC? I've loaded up 10 of each; 4.8, 5.0 and 5.2. Just curious if I need to keep going, 5.4, 5.6, and 5.8. ..and I'm starting to not like my Lyman digital scale. Fluctuates like my mood without caffeine.
  7. Stock barrel? Well, a Glock .40 barrel? Most manuals stipulate max loads with the caveat of "fully supported chamber".
  8. A little on the aggressive side, punch the throat out a bit and polish the rim that the case headspaces from. I was getting bad build up with moly bullets as it was getting shaved off during chambering. I'm always game for a throat punch or two!
  9. I load 3.2 of titegroup pushing 180 gr moly bullets for minor. It's around 127-129 pf. I shoot it through a Lone Wolf barrel in my G23. Stock recoil spring. Cycles perfectly, as accurate as anything I've ever shot. Recoils like a .22lr. It's my "powder puff" IDPA load. With the moly's the barrel doesn't look shot after the match.
  10. I didn't want the mag to hit the dirt. I was aiming to land it on the spool. ..yeah, I can't back that up.
  11. That doesn't look that fast! LOL
  12. I posted Steel12's vids in is thread (Me at Area 3). Save the Princess... This was our first Area match, and first major in our new classes (B and A). Or, flip that around A and B for Anti-Baggers! Congrats to Steel for getting 2nd! First run of the day, stage 2. Had some serious jitters. Ended up with a 96% run. It's the small victories... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2...73444&hl=en ...and my miracle run on stage 12. This after I TANKED stage 8, and sorta tanked 10. 20.24 sec for an 82%. http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/want...=ShaunA3-12.flv
  13. You, courtesy of me...lol Stage 5 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=70...59894&hl=en Stage 12 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=28...59574&hl=en
  14. The stages either made you say "wow", or "huh?". It took me a while to get my head around 9. So many different ways.... The Princess was probably my favorite. Didn't shoot it that well, but it was awesome.
  15. I needed a "Bomb Squad" t-shirt after my stage 8. Oh well, first area match, first match in A class. Got get the bugs worked out. That little, back popper was weeble-wobbling on me I swear! At least my stage 2 and 12 will keep me happy for the long drive home. 96% on stage 2, wee-hee. First stage of the match too, talk about nerves. Pulled a miracle on 12, both stars clean and as good as I've ever shot them. Amazing stages. Run and gun is the whole reason I shoot this game. I love the challange of breaking the stages down and coming up with a solid plan that I can remember long enough to get the rounds off.
  16. 1/16th hole on one side, make sure it's where you want it! If you mess it up, theres always the other side... I use a gas tube pin from an AR. Grind flush.
  17. Broken cam pin, all stars in the sky aligned just right.... I've seen a few aftermaths myself. The last one I saw, the empty case was still lodged in the chamber. It was not fully seated and had a blow out at the 7 O'clock position (partially ruptured case). Split the upper. Broken cam pin. Did it break before or after KaBoom? Exactly. Replace your cam pins if you see a shoulder starting to wear from the bolt carrier. Cheap insurance.
  18. That's ACTUALLY his airsoft gun....
  19. Look like EGW's barrel bushing. That's all I use as well.
  20. I like the short/wide frame. Blended perfectly to the slide cuts.
  21. I spelled it right in my head at least. Some is better than none, thanks for bringing your camera!
  22. This was our second big match (Steel1212 and I). Was a little apprehensive about the long range stuff at first, but everybody has to shoot them. Those in my squad know that the Calibration Gods were looking after me on stage 10. Stage 7 bit me even though I've shot it twice before (dropped a mag, with none on the belt). Lessons learned were many! Thank you to all who worked this match. It ran smooth and was a blast to shoot. We camped at Deer Creek State Park nearby. Recommend it highly to anyone willing to "tent it" for a match. Make your reservations EARLY as it was absolutely full up due to the holiday. Some vids: Stage 1: Hit the close no shoot and splintered some wood on this one. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5560503276348937875 Stage 2: Accuracy by volume. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5802233476699180099 Stage 3: Needing the last make up shot cost me the stage win I believe. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=506023000839723172 I was REALLY looking forward to shooting stage 4 after seeing it and getting my plan together. I really enjoyed that one. Got sucked into the first no shoot though. No video.
  23. ...Or just use a bigger hammer! It turned out to be some metal "flash" that filled in the smaller hole when they milled the larger hole (in the back end). Probably the last slide milled before swapping out the bits.
  24. Yep, Big Daddy started it all. There have been many "similar" styles, but all based on Rat Fink. Here's another one that I'm still working on. This will be on a shirt, or in Ink, eventually. Or something like it.
  25. This particular SNAFOO, which is HIS name (see above pic), used to live in my ruck. He would pop his head out every once in a while just to make sure I was paying attention. For example: Straddling (because WA state has HUGE trees that like to fall down) over a tree, too long to go around. Of course it's wet, so my pants are wet all the way from ankle, to crotch, to other ankle. Start to slide over to other side, lead foot out to catch weight. Other foot still on starting side, now dangling off ground. Lead foot prepared to hit ground. Shift more weight to slide over tree till foot touches ground. Not ground. Merely vegetation covering rather large hole made by tree falling down. Body weight now accelerating towards earth. Ruck sack increases mass, thus velocity. SNAFOO, riding shotgun inside ruck, is heard laughing as I pass through vegetation and continue extra 4 feet to bottom of hole. Head first. Ruck sack makes sure head is SECURELY planted on bottom of the hole. One more: Walking on a narrow path up a very large and steep mountain trail, with a not-so-narrow machine gun, SNAFOO liked to grab branches just enough that I thought I could push through it. Nope. Got off balance, fell backward, head down hill, feet up hill, stuck on my back like a turtle. Trail too narrow to turn over. Again with the laughing. Fortunately, he never rode shotgun during jumps. SNAFOO gets bored (goes away) if I practice or shoot while NOT at a match. He'll only hide in my gun if I fail to clean it (or thoroughly inspect a new-to-me gun). Unlike the Great Gazoo, there is no reasoning with him. Only training, hard work and a bit of humor will keep this little bast@rd away. ...and yes, if you reload your little finger into the mag well you might have sections of the rule book recited to you...
