  1. There is also a recurved trigger available now to allow better reach for those with smaller hands/fingers. Combine this with the above mentioned Aluminium Grips & good to go. Cheers, Ando.
  2. I have an SP01 Shadow & shoot it in IPSC Production. I'm going to fit a magwell & shoot a few matches this year in Standard with it too. Here in Australia, shooting IPSC rules, we can't have a PD gun worked, so the Shadow is excellent out of the box. Change out the recoil & hammer/main springs, sight it in & dryfire to smooth out the trigger. Perfect. I've fitted a CZ 75 Kadet .22 to the SP01 frame & it works well. Cheap training option. Cheers, Ando.
  3. CZ Open Gun Project. http://www.ipsc.org.au/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4056 Cheers, Ando.
  4. FYI. I shoot both a G17A & CZ 75 SP01 Shadow. I use the same reloaded ammo through both my guns, 125LC conical/3.3gr.AP50/1.1" OAL. Very accurate & 100% reliable. I tumble & clean my brass before reloading & am not particular about brand (I shoot my brass until it either splits or is damaged. I hand select match ammo, but for practice, anything goes). I reload on a Dillon 550 with Dillon Dies. Personally, I have fired over 10,000 rounds through my CZ in under 12 months without one issue. Cheers, Ando.
  5. I have a G34, XD9 Tactical & CZ SP01 Shadow. All excellent USPSA Production Division choices IMO. G34 does not fit my hand well. I suffer severe slide bite as I have large hands & grip the gun as high as possible. Price is right & parts are plentiful. I wish I could get used to the grip angle & overcome the slide bite issue. XD9 Tactical, fits me like a glove. As reliable as the G34 & with similar accuracy. I too had a cracked locking block, which was replaced with the newer version & no probs since. CZ is a freak with accuracy. I have to work harder to shoot the G34 & XD9, as well as I do the CZ. Once you shoot all 3, your choice will be made for you. Having held, but not shot the M&P I can't coment, but should be a contender. 1. CZ75 SP01 Shadow.. 2. XD9 Tactical. 3. G34. Cheers, Ando.
  6. IPSC Glock 34 is not a PD legal gun in IPSC, for the simple fact that it's too long. Hope the M&P9L or M&P9Pro, make it onto the approved list. I read that, one of the 2 models may have a sub 5lb. trigger pull? Not PD legal. Fingers crossed.
  7. What? No mention of Angus Hobdell? Despite his "Portly Status" (his words, not mine), that guy can move (& shoot).
  8. Pictures. http://www.ipsc.org.au/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3748
  9. IPSC I shoot both a HS2000 Tactical (XD Tactical) & CZ75 SP01 Shadow. Both are excellent PD guns. CZ75 SP01 Shadow is definitely flavour of the month/year, followed by Tanfoglio Stock II. Glock, XD, M&P are popular choices for Polymer PD guns. CZ, Tanfoglio are the more popular Steel guns in PD.
  10. Asics Gel Blackheaths. Hockey/Touch Footy based shoe.
  11. Blade-tek You can buy DOH & Stingray belt attachments separately as required. Cheers, Ando.
  12. +1 Springer Precision Sear Kit. I managed to sucessfully fit the Springer Precision Sear Kit, with only an instructional DVD & basic tools. Did have to bend the new trigger spring slightly, to work the trigger correctly. No dramas. Now I need the trigger bar & I'm done. I have had several Hard Core Standard & Open shooters, who look down their noses at PD & Polymer guns, amazed at the trigger improvement. +1 Springer Precision Sear Kit. Cheers, Ando.
  13. Unfortunately, I can't get a propper 2 handed grip & then disengage the thumb safety. As soon as I have a correct grip on the gun & cleared the holster, I disengage the safety as I bring my support hand onto the gun. Finger off the trigger until I'm ready to engage the target only. Cheers, Ando.
  14. CR Speed, fast, secure, versatile, available & cheaper than most. One holster will fit all 1911/2011, CZ/Tanfoglio & clones. Cheers, Ando.
  15. Hi folks, shoot a polymer frame gun in Production & Standard, IPSC. Am looking to fit a magwell to my Standard gun, should I go light aluminium or heavy brass/steel? Will the heavier magwell counteract a tungsten guiderod, or shoud I be adding weighty componants where possible, dispite location on the gun? Cheers, Ando.
  16. I shoot an HS2000 Tactical 9mm. in Production Division (Australia). 135gr. RN LC/3.8 AP-70N/1.145" OAL. 18lb. factory spring. Smooth, flat & accurate all day long.
  17. FIFO (Fit in or F@uk Off). Australia. If you come here, just fit in (somewhere), enjoy yourself & get on with it.
  18. If you bring/want to shoot in Australia, you will have to comply with local law. Angus Hobdell, shot IPSC Australian Nationals here in June/July & had to comply with max. 10 round mag. capacity. I believe he used his own gun though. The Australian compliant CZ75 SP01 IPSC Model has a slightly longer barrel than your SP01. Hoops? Once I joined a shooting club as a "sporting shooter" (you need to show a genuine reason to own a handgun here, & just cos you want one dosent cut it), I had to wait 6mths. before I could apply for my pistol licence. & a further month for a permit to process. I can only own 1 handgun for the first 12 mths. of my licence. 9-12 mths. is an average time frame to wait, before being able to legally own a pistol in OZ.
  19. Real guns are fine. Very basically, we can have upto 9mm/38 super & similar as a sporting shooter. 40+ cal. are restricted. We have a restriction on minimum OAL of barrels (123mm min.). No compacts or similar. For example, Springfield XD 4" fullsize 9mm. Restricted as too short. Springfield XD 5" Tactical 9mm. No problems. Glock17, restricted as too short. Glock17A, once again no problems. Hope this helps.
  20. G'day folks, I shoot a HS2000 Tactical/XD Tactical 9mm. in IPSC/Action Match & similar, @ 200-400 rounds per week generally. My HS is @ 12 months old & has fired @ 10,000 rounds. In addition, I dry-fire a couple of times a week for @ an hour, give or take. It has been very reliable, with any stoppages traced back to my reloaded ammo. In particular, I experienced several problems of difficulty in racking the slide because I was using a conical semi-wadcutter projectile, loaded too long. Solution was to swap to a conical or reduce OAL. Problem solved. The locking-block broke last week (but did have a crack for several months), but the HS still preformed perfectly. I only discovered the breakage whilst cleaning. The Australian (sorry, did I mention I live in OZ?) distributor replaced it free of charge with the newer/modified locking-block in @ a week. Fantastic. The black coating on the metal areas is shit & wears quite quickly, but once again, does not affect the reliability of the gun. Will eventually have it refinished, so no dramas. Modifications: Heinie Pro Slant sights. extended mag release. 16lb. recoil spring. Tru-Grip tape. (No trigger job as not legal in IPSC Production Division).
  21. Thanks Folks, plenty of great advice so far. Just added BE book, Practical Shooting Beyond Fundamentals to my library. Still waiting an Steve Andersons's books to arrive, but have it on very good authority that it's on the way (apparently Australia is a way away) Look forward to the Matt Burkett info, Shooter Grrl, if you find it.& still waiting for your website to come back up, Jake. Chop, chop. Cheers.
  22. Thanks guys, had a look on Matt's site, but couldn't find the 10 week plan. Care to post a link for me? Keep the info coming, much appreciated. Cheers.
  23. IE, thanks for your reply. Yeah, I also have those couple of books by Saul Kirsch. It's a bit like, all the gear, no idea. I'm looking for some advice in structuring the plan. Obviously starting with the basics & building onto those with additional skills. I'll check the range diaries you suggest. Cheers.
  24. I'm looking for a training plan for IPSC shooting. I have Brian Enos' & Steve Anderson's 2 books on their way, & am looking to put a training plan together. Has this been done else where (point me in the right direction)? Say a 10-12 week program, including one 3-4 hour range day & 3-4 thirty minute home dry-fire sessions per week. This program is designed to bring a novice IPSC shooter through a 3 month training plan, giving him/her the basic skills of IPSC Sport Shooting, so they can then continue their own development base on their interests & needs. Cheers.
