  1. I was curious about shooting 121/125 haps which are .356 through my 9mm due to premature wear that I had in my head Anyways, I went down and measured some 147 xtps, 0.355 on the button, and the haps, .356 on the button. Then I was curious, just how small is 0.001? I measured a piece of paper out of my lyman load log, 0.004. So we are talking 1/4 thickness of paper lol. Yeah, I was bored.
  2. I'm starting to shoot more IDPA and Single stack and I'm looking for most accurate bullet for my money. I was looking at hornady's haps 121 or 125s what else is out there that I should try?
  3. so do I just need the barrel and bushing and mags for .38 super?
  4. Can I go the other way? I have a springfield 9mm and was thinking about getting a .38 super. Can I go from 9mm to 38 super? If so is there a kit to buy or is all I need is a barrel a bushing and mags? Sorry for the hijack
  5. I think thats the spring caddy.
  6. I'm trying several new loads in both .45 and .9mm in my 1911s and wanted to get a multi pack so to speak so that I can fine tune things. The only one I can think of is the wilson spring caddy thing. Point me to others. Also what about mainspring packs?
  7. I doubt it. More like the catalog weight is bogus. If you want to know the weight of the parts, take the gun apart and weigh them individually. took my 2 guns apart. Here is the weights that I got on my scale SA SS magwell/MSH 2.7oz (9mm) Arched MSH 2.0oz (milspec) Wilson slide on magwell 0.8oz (milspec) standard slide stop 0.3oz (milspec) wilson mag with 0.650 baseplat 2.4oz (milspec) 9mm mag with baseplate 2.85oz (9mm) Light wood grips with magwell cut 1.1oz (milspec) Redwood grips that are thicker 1.5oz (9mm) hogues 1.3oz (milspec) So with the light wood grips I'm at 41.8oz on the milspec, if I find a polymer MSH I think that would cut 1.5 off and I would be golden. I would love to put a SA magwell/MSH on there but unless I can get aluminum it still won't make weight 2.5 or 2.7.
  8. You sure the SA reg weighs 2.5? My 9mm is supposted to weigh in at 39 oz, plus my kimber mag with baseplate is 2.9 that only leaves 1.1....maybe I have the aluminum one?
  9. I was looking at the rules and was a little confused as to what the differance was. I have both a mil spec that I'm trying to get ready for IDPA CDP and a 1911 9mm that I shoot in ESP and was wondering which one to shoot and what class in USPSA. The only thing I can see is that limited 10 has a production limit and loaded to 10 rounds. Single stack has a 8 round limit for major and 10 round limit for minor.
  10. If shooting to slide lock and reloading do you have to be behind cover?
  11. Anybody have weights for the regular SA magwell/MSH and the aluminum vs. the arched one on my milspec?
  12. I need a new range bag. My old small springfield one is ok but now that I plan on shooting in IDPA I need something to hold more gear! Any ideas?
  13. Yeah, nobody cares at the local match, I haven't been there on classifier day though. I also don't want to take it to a match and my scales be off an oz
  14. Ok I've looked at my funds and the prices of really nice .45s and have decided to try my mil spec at the next IDPA shoot. The best I can get it down to is 41.8oz. This includes the following: full length steel guide rod wison mag well, the one that slides over the screws wood grips everything else is stock I was wondering if a SA flat MS housing/magwell would save some weight over the wilson and arched MS housing/magwell thats on it now? Also I was wanting an extended slide stop, mine is a stocker and weighs 0.3 onces would an extended weight more being that its extended? What else could I do with out a gun smith to trim the fat?
  15. Yeah, I know but that gun is sweet and would love to get it but I want a duel purpose gun. The one I'm looking at is the above one but its 31 oz instead of 38.
  16. The one I really want is the TRP with the rail but its 42 oz and has a bull barrel. I really want a .45 with a rail so it will double as my house gun and IDPA gun so I get the most practice with it.
  17. What about the lose of the 7 ounces, would I notice that in shooting?
  18. http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod-pstl-1911-op.shtml bottom one I was looking at the TRP with the rail but it has a bull barrel and I think that would be considered "heavy" right? Also would I notice 7 oz diffrence from the trophy match or black stainless that are 38oz and this one is a light weight at 31? I would be adding a magwell but that looks to be about it. I've pretty much come down to 3 pistols for CDP: The one above (would do duel duty as house gun with light which makes it more appealing to me) The trophy match and switching the sights to fiber optics http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod-pstl-1911-tm.shtml The black stainless full sized which looks like it has everything I need just wondering about the accuracy. http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod-pstl-1911-fs.shtml Second from the bottom.
  19. I want as little movement as possible. I shot my first match sat and my fobus just wiggles to much for me. Granted I just had thick leather dress belt and I'm ordering a wildnerss instructors belt as well.
  20. So basically if I'm only shooting IDPA, for now, I should go with the 9mm as I already load it? In IPSC it just boils down to a few more rounds over .45 and makes major scoring over 9mm/38 super but that would be fore limited right as open you can use any caliber above 9mm as long as it makes PF? If its glock .45 isn't even a choice as I just don't like the feel of them. It would be .40 or 9mm. I'm getting the idea that it comes back to IPSC with the reason so many people shoot .40, for major and more rounds.
  21. I'm looking to get a new gun and I see a lot of shooting sport shooters shooting .40. Is it just a personal preferance or is it actually superior to 9mm/.45. The reason I'm asking is that I don't currently have a SSP legal gun. I already load for 9mm/.45acp/.38/.357 so whats one more caliber right? Anyway, I was looking at getting another glock, had G17s sold them both, wish I hadn't but if I get another glock it will either be a 17 or a 22. I could always shoot well with my 17s though.
  22. E. Muzzle forward or ‘on the belt’ adjustable cant holsters. Those that allow the cant to be adjusted by the shooter while the holster is on the belt are not allowed. NOTE: Holsters with an adjustable cant via removal of bolts and repositioning of the backpiece are approved if set for neutral or muzzle rear cant. You can't really adjust them while they are on the belt, and if you set it for straight down I don't see how the "roto" part of it makes it illegal. The only thing I could see would be the distance between your body and the holster itself which isn't much.
  23. Ok I had pretty much settled on the belt holster as I didn't think the paddle ones would be legal. I saw where the paddle with the 2 belt clips they listed as legal, does anybody use that one?
