  1. There is a .45 SA hi cap over at ar15.com for sell in the equipment exchange. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&...88&t=373085
  2. I looked last night and couldn't find any but maybe they have it worded so a Kentucky good ol' boy can't figure it out lol.
  3. Just so this is straight I'm not saying I'm not guilty I am 100% guilty, I'm also not saying it completly falls on the SO either. I know what I did was wrong and this should not have happened period! I was ASKing why would I have been DQ. I'm still a new shooter so maybe this was grounds for a DQ in IDPA I don't know. "Clearing out a carry pistol at home" Thats the sad part I always check clear everytime I pick a gun up, so why in the hell didn't I do it then? Anyways, back to my original question, do I need to change the extractor? Its the only time this has happened.
  4. Its definatly a lesson learned. I've been useing the load manuels ever sense. The more I have looked them over the more I'm it looks like I'm going to save my pennies for the one on this site.
  5. Yeah, after a little searching I did find some lighter ones but I think I'll try the 19 then the 17 first.
  6. I could have not pulled the slide back far enouch but I would think that it would have been back far enough to caused it to malf in some way, there wasn't a mag in the gun or anything so something should have happened. Why would it have been a DQ? Its the SO job to check clear as well as mine, and one of the reason's for hammer down to make sure its clear. The gun was pointed at the burm, the hammer was dropped, and the round that was still in there was discharged into the burm. To me all that was done in a safe manner, the reason for the hammer down procedure. Granted, there is no excuse for either one of us not to check and make sure there was no round in the chamber.
  7. I see a lot of people at the matches use JHP and conversly thats what I use but I'm not exactly sure why. Is there an advantage to one over the other. I can see the FMJ being more reliable in feeding but other than that?
  8. Thanks, did you do a group size or feel of them while getting the data?
  9. I'm wanting to start a little data base for my 9m 1911. I work up all loads I want to try so just because Joe Dirty says to use 7.5 of TG for minor doesn't mean I'm going to go out and do it Anyway, I'm looking for powder, powder weight, bullet manufacture, bullet weight, fmj/jhp/etc, case manufacture, primer, velocity(if you have it), gun make/model/barrel length, factory or match barrel, group size, feel, and OAL. I know I'm asking a lot but I'm anal..... Here is what I've been useing Springfield Armory loaded 9mm factory barrel 121 hornady haps 4.3/4.4 tg 1.150 OAL CCI 500 primers Winchester brass I'm still a noobie so it feels good to me and I can hold it under 4" at 25 yards free standing if I do my part.
  10. I see that wolf has some ultra light springs and I'll probably pick a reduced and ultra light power pack but what about lighter than 17 main springs? I have no idea what is in my pistol now as it was traded for so I would like to replace all the springs in there so I know what is what.
  11. I shot a IDPA match today and at the end of the string I was given the command to empty, show clear. Well I dropped the mag and pulled the slide back and nothing popped out, but it didn't register in my melon, dropped the slide and hammer down BANG into the burm. Yes it was both mine and the SO fault for not makeing 100% sure there was no round chambered and I fealt like an idiot the rest of the day. Anyway, I checked the gun over to make sure there where no malfs and shot the next stage and ran 100%. Any ideas as to why it didn't eject the live round? 9mm 1911, 4.4 tg, 121 haps, 1.150 oal, cci 500 primers, winchester brass (this was the 2nd fire).
  12. WWB is 1.15 if I'm not mistaken and thats what I picked and it feeds great so far. I have a 1911 9mm that I'm working with. I was assuming that it was a feeding issue I just wanted to make sure. Hornady's manuel list X and that is the minimum correct.

    Oal?

Do you pretty much load everything to the same or close to the same over all lenghts? With the manuels varing so much I'm a little confused. I've found out, from here, that 1.15 is a good length for 121-125 haps and my gun seems to like it. I was going to try some 147gr 9mm and was wondering if the same goes for that at 1.15?
  14. Your also useing a 147gr bullet where I'm only useing a 121
  15. To be honest I found your post about useing 4.3 tg with haps I think in a glock and you said you went up to 4.7 but I didn't notice that it was in a open gun. So you like the 147s in a 5" 1911 better? If so you have a load for that? Also what do you think about the pact timer/chrono combo sold on this site?
  16. what do you think about this chrono http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/...leitemid=369265 I looked on this site and it has the chrono/timer combo and I would like to have a time to practise with as well, so that looked good.
  17. yes sir 121 haps. Yeah, thats on my list of things to get especially now!! Do you think I damaged the gun? I stopped once I saw any signs.
  18. Well I wanted to load up some more rounds and see if anything past 4.4, which was pretty accurate, would be any better. I loaded 4.5, 4.6, 4.7, and 4.8. I shot the 4.5, 4.6 with no problems. Got to the 4.7 and checked the first brass out and it looked ok, well after the last round, 9 total, I picked up that series and noticed that the primers look like they had stuck to the FP and filled up instead of cratering and a couple had a hole instead of a crater where the FP hit. needless to say I didn't shoot the 4.8 load. Do you think I did any damage to my gun? I looked and couldn't see anything that looked bad on the slide or extracter area. Guess I'll load up some 4.4, 4.3 and see which one I like the best
  19. Now thats something I can relate to. I run a billet flywheel in my 65 mustang ;-)
  20. I would try to do it but I feel I'm to new to it to get it started. There are more minor shooters out there than major and I've worked up a few myself but I'm sure people would be greatfull for a list of minor loads. Hell I'm loading titegroup and 121 haps at around 4.3 to 4.4ish and I'm seeing people loading 125s at around 3.7-3.8s so I'm way off lol.
  21. So it looks like to me that clays or VV310 is the way to go with .45? Would you clays users use VV310 if it was cheaper?
  22. 100% I've got a small 500 box of 121 haps I'm working with right now and I've just about got those dialed in. I'm thinking that the 4.3-4.4 of titegroup at 1.15 oal out of my 1911 is going to be the ticked with them. I have some test loads from 4.5-4.8 I wanna try but I'm thinking I'll get to 4.6 and it won't be worth going any farther. On a side note, anybody done any comparisions of the 125 vs the 121 haps being any diffrent: accuracy, follow ups?
  23. I'm wanting to run either haps or zero's. I was looking at some VV powder for my 9mm minor loads instead of tight group but its almos 10$ bucks more than titegroup for just a 1#er lol.
