I too, just picked up a nice 25-2. Just as Carmoney stated lead 230RN shot so poorly I thought I had been ripped off. 12" groups w/ bullets slung sideways. Switched to plated 230 and 185 HBRN and things improved vastly. Strangest thing I have ever seen. I may still try to Lead sized to .454 later , just to experiment Carmoney is right about the cast stuff in the 25-2. I too, just picked up a very cherry 25-2 w/6 1/2" tube. First loads I ran through it were cast 230 RN and was horrified at the results. My first impulse was that I had been ripped off. Then I tried some 230 RN Plated, 185 RNHB Plated and 185 JHP's . Boy , what a difference. I went from a 12" group with wallowed out bullet holes to roughly 3" groups with the jacketed and plated stuff.Strange , but true. I may experiment later on with cast bullets sized to .454". Unless you guys have been there and done that can tell me not to bother and just stick to the jacketed stuff. mws Forgive me for my redundant statements mws

I love everything about my M&P 40 except the too small slide release. I just called the 800 number above and they sent me the new extended release free of charge. That is great service!!! I met with a S&W Rep a few days ago on a range and he said that the Compact 9mm's have been shipping this month and the compact 40's will be shipping within 2 weeks. Says that I should be able to find one in a local store in 1-2 months. OOOPS, I meant to say it's good to see other models of the M&P come out ,such as the compact. But what I really want to know is when we will see a 5" model with Adj Sights??

Anything developing on the 8 shot 9mm Taurus revo?? Randy did you ever get one in the shop??

Not yet finished with the experiments , but initial data looks promising. I too, was not satisfied with Clays and 185 HBRN Berrys. It was soft shooting, but not as clean and not very accurate. I have started using IMR Trail Boss with the 185 HBRN. 3.6 grains averaged about 575 fps out of my 625. Accuracy was pretty good. I am going to 4.1 grains as the first load did not even come close to making 120 PF. I will report back after my next range trip.

You are right. It depends on where you shoot. There are a lot of outlaw 3-gun(non-USPSA) matches out there. I have an 1100 that had a + 5 tube on it . I always shoot Limited or Tact and it always caused a stir. I finally put a shorter tube on it. BTW. I really like the info on the BPS mag tube. I have an A-5 I would like to try that on.

I have not been able to pull up the STI website, anybody else experiencing this? Or is there a problem with the website?

+1 on SCOTT with SDM. He did an extremely nice 5 to 4" conversion on my 625.

I have two of the Millett reddots in the 1" tube models. I mounted on a S&W 629 had to be sent back when the intensity dial started coming off. Their service was good and sent me a brand new one back . The other is on a S&W 657 and have never had any problems with it.

NM3GNR, don't suppose you could post a picture of that flat spot under the barrel. I installed Heavy RM in P-16 w/ Schueman HB and gun bound up. I started to relieve the top of the RM , but after seeing this post, I wonder if I should relieve the bottom of the barrel. MWS

Thanks Flatland, right now I am just leaving in the old barrel as I ran two hundred rounds through it flawlessly today.I will practice with it like this then shoot the Griffin Steel Challenge match and the Ga State 3 gun this coming weekend. After that I will start playing with the bull barrel and different spring setups. I will let you know what happens then. Thanks again for the info

Flatland, I took the gun apart and cleaned and lubed. Wasn't really dirty or dry. Put back together same thing. Took gun apart again and put the original barrel and recoil spring and plug back in and work smooth as silk. I think the Recoilmaster may have been dragging the barrel . Anybody else ever heard of this? Thanks

Thought I would put this out for some troubleshooting help. I have a Para P16 with Schueman bull bbl, aftec, and sti recoilmaster. Since these items have been put in I have not shot it much. Today I decided to start shooting it again to get ready for Limited class again. The problem is after about 20 rounds the slide started hanging up fully to the rear. The slide stop was not engaged. I can manually pull the slide to the rear and it will hang up. I slight bump and it will go into battery. Any ideas?

Have you tried the any of the KZ? polymer 1911 Wilsons?
