    Steel Cased Ammo?

A couple of my mags didn’t seem to like the USA Forged. A Glock 17 magpul lost spring tension and I had to unload it. Seemed like the mag was done for. But, then I loaded it up with brass and it held tension??? One of my CZ mags seemed to do the same thing, but I loaded it with only 10 and it ran fine. Maybe not enough slickness on the cases to load properly?

    Steel Cased Ammo?

Back from the range and shot 250 rounds of the USA Forged. Ammo was much hotter than I remember - surprisingly hot. Lots of muzzle flash, loud, and sparks flying out of the barrel and floating down to the ground. Weird. Ran 25 rounds through my Glock 17 without issues. Ran 25 rounds through my SP-01 with one failure to feed. 100 rounds through my Shadow 2 with no issues. 100 rounds through my C-100 with one early lock back with one round left in the mag. So, two failures. Good enough for the range and I’ll run it in my Shadow 2 this week at my local match.
  3. I have smaller hands and the S2 is very comfortable with the stock aluminum grips. I also have an SP-01 and the factory rubber grips are a bit too thick for my liking. I switched out with some G10 thin grips from GUUUN grips for the SP-01 and it’s much better for me.
  4. At the price, you really can’t go wrong. If you end up not liking them or you find them uncomfortable, it’s a $39 shoe. If you shell out $130-150 for a pair of Salomon’s, and they aren’t to your liking, it’s different story. Went trail running for the third time in mine today and I’m starting to warm up to them as a trail running shoe.
  5. When I look at my classifier record, I see a Percent and Hit Factor. The HF is the same number I see on my score for the classifier. However, the percent on my classifier record is not a number that I see on my score. How is the percent determined?
  6. I’m guessing what I’ll end up trying is switching back and forth between Limited Major (Glock 22) and Minor (Shadow 2) to see if there is a big difference in scoring. However, the guns are so different that I don’t expect that I’ll improve much by shooting major.
  7. Bought mine 3 weeks ago. When I went to my match that weekend, I was surprised at how many people were wearing Boombahs. Probably more than any other shoe, including Salomon. All kinds of colors and designs including the flag design were at that match. After I wore them to work, a guy got online and bought two pair. This past weekend, I was at a different match and didn’t see anyone else wearing Boombahs.
  8. Here are the ones for $39 https://www.boombah.com/us/search.html#/?Ignitecategory=Trail Shoes I went with this: https://www.boombah.com/us/product.html?item=184872
  9. Waktasz: You play near the top, where I’m going to be playing near the bottom. But at the bottom end, two shooters shooting minor still topped a few shooting major. Was this a Limited class only match?
  10. When I said I’m not that competitive, I meant that I’m not comparable to the above average to better shooters at my local matches. I am out to mainly have fun, but I also want to improve. The no difference between Production and Limited was related to the What If feature. As to the overall standings, it’s hard not to focus on it when looking at scores. Especially if there’s only a few people shooting in your division to compare with.
  11. Hey, not to hi-jack my own thread, but anyone agree based on what I found.... no real difference between Production, Limited Minor, or Limited Major.... meaning it doesn’t really matter what I shoot until I improve. Seems like we’ve moved elsewhere... Yeah, Limited Major would make a difference overall , but just a bit. So, based on what I’ve seen from What Ifs, I probably need to get to B before it even matters.
  12. Not the SA micro pistol, but the trail shoes from Boombah. Bought a pair for $39+shipping. Here’s my review: Looked narrow in the toe area so I ordered a half-size large. Initial fit was still a bit tight. Tread was large, thick, and very aggressive. Wore for a few evenings to break-in and wore to work for a day. Seemed to loosen up a bit. Following day, wore for a walk with the dogs on pavement for 1.5 miles and seemed fine. Wore them in a USPSA match after a week of rain. Performed great with no problems. Lots of muddy areas and the tread was great. Gummed up a bit here and there, but so much high/thick tread overall that it didn’t matter. Other competitors shoes were mired up in mud. This is a great shoe for muddy conditions. After a week of break-in, this shoe was very comfortable for a 5 hour match. Can’t be more happy with this shoe. One issue - the space between the treads will lodge a 9mm shell case. Following day after the match, went on a 2.7 mile trail run. Shoe did fine on the trail, but I’m not sure this is really a running shoe. But, I picked the trail that I run with the most roots, ruts, rocks, etc... and the shoe did great. Again, I’m not sure this is really a running shoe as that is not what Boombah really does. Have gone for another trail run and it did well, though still not convinced it’s a true running shoe. As a shooting shoe, for outdoor conditions, dry, slick, wet, muddy, it is very good. After breaking in, I think I maybe could have purchased my regular size rather than a 1/2 size up. Also, I don’t think I would run these in an indoor match on concrete. The tread is too hard and might not be the best for stopping at speed. Any tennis or running shoe would probably be a bit better indoors. What this shoe really is... a softball turf that is as good or better than a molded cleat. Playing infield on dirt or hitting, it will be as good or better than anything else. Playing outfield - this is where it will shine. Wet grass, Bermuda and Fescue mixed + plus Clover and Dandelions, you need a cleat. And most guys playing slow pitch prefer a turf shoe. This shoe is as good as a molded rubber cleat on those surfaces. It just turns out that it is just as good for shooting on similar surfaces. 5 stars.
  13. OK, I’ve got the What Ifs working now. Based on my last three matches, if I shot Limited Major, I would have moved up slightly in the overall standings in 2 of the 3 over my Production or Limited Minor standings. Of course, I might not have been as accurate with major PF ammo. And, I would have been faster running either Limited Minor or Major over Production. Based on those three matches, it’s a complete wash. And it doesn’t really matter at this point if I run Limited Major or Minor. I’ve got to get better before Major vs Minor will matter that much. In my case, I need to shoot faster.
  14. OK, I see it and have gone in to it but don’t know how to use it. How do I change my scoring from Minor to Major to see the diffence? It seems like it wants me to create a virtual match. I guess what I’d like to do is compare my scores in Production Minor to the Limited Major shooters and see how I’d do if shooting Major. I realize it doesn’t account for the slower speed in Production due to mag changes, but it would give me an idea.
  15. Don’t know. I assume it’s like moving with your finger on the trigger. Or perhaps he was referring to the ND that he had to DQ someone over.
  16. Where do I find the what if function? Will I see it while looking at scores from my matches? Or is it a separate page where I input my recent scores in minor and then select for major scoring?

    Steel Cased Ammo?

After the Midway purchase, I still saw them available for several hours. So, I doubt I got the last of the lot. But as for Natchez, I may have gotten the last batch. I checked back within minutes of purchasing, and they were no longer available there. Midway shipped UPS and expected delivery is tomorrow. Natchez shipped Fed Ex, and that shipment is also scheduled to deliver tomorrow.
  18. OK, let's say I achieve a "B" in Production. Would that pull the Limited classification up to a "C"

    Steel Cased Ammo?

Just received an email from Natchez that my order shipped.
  20. O.K. I shot Limited for a little while and was classified as "D". I've since been shooting Production, and based on my last match, I think I will be classified as "C" in Production class when the score is entered. If I am classified as "C" in Production, will this pull my Limited classification up to "C" as well?

    Steel Cased Ammo?

I had a stockpile of brass ammo at the start of the pandemic stay at home point in March. However, my local range continued to stay open as an essential business. So, I found myself making two trips per week, even three a couple of times. I used very little 9mm and usually replenished with whatever they had in stock at the range - usually Winchester @ $14.99 per box. So, I maintained my 9mm stock for a brief period. I realized I could find .40 at $11.99, then $12.99, and later $13.99, so I forgot about shooting 9mm for a while and only shot .40 which was available and cheaper than buying 9mm. As we moved to phase 2 in my state, matches opened back up so I started shooting 9mm again and I could find it online at ok prices. So, I've been shooting a lot. In fact, in an 8 day period, I shot in 3 matches and made 2 range trips. So, I started going through my 9mm stash and needed to pick some more up. So, we'll see how the steel case runs in my CZ's, hopefully well. If so, I'll keep buying it.

    Steel Cased Ammo?

I called Natchez this morning and they could see my order for processing, but I had not received a confirmation email. The CS rep emailed me one and said I should receive an email this afternoon. In the meantime, I saw the same ammo at Midway and placed another order for the same amount - 500 rounds. I've already received confirmation and a tracking number.
  23. At my last match, the RO's were very good about asking to see the chamber after I ejected the round. And one RO told me something very important that I hadn't realized or incorporated into dry fire or live fire practice. I shoot a DA/SA pistol and start hammer down. He told me that I tended to put my finger on the trigger prior to pinching the hammer for a manual adjustment to DA. He told me he had to DQ a GM recently who touched off his sub 2lb trigger because his finger went to the trigger first and set off a round. He also told me that some RO's would and could disqualify me if my finger touched the trigger prior to grabbing the hammer. Makes sense and something I am now practicing.
  24. Last stage of the night. Stage required a stop and re-holster after the first string. I normally let the mag drop free, and insert another. But since this was a short stage, I had enough rounds left to keep shooting. So, I reholstered and shot the second string. When it came time to show clear I racked back and caught the bullet. RO saw the round eject and didn’t ask to see the barrel. At hammer down, boom. Just like at the end of the first string, I didn’t eject the mag and let it drop free. So, when I racked the slide and ejected, I simply chambered another round which went off at hammer down. Should the RO have asked to see clear, yes. Should I have dropped my mag as usual, yes. Lesson learned. At a recent match, on a similar string, an RO told me I could just take the mag out by hand and put in my pouch instead of letting it hit the ground. I told him that I let it drop free every time so that I don’t screw up.

    Steel Cased Ammo?

I placed an order with Cabela's last week and got a confirmation email that they had received my order. However, I noticed right after I ordered they were out of stock. The next day I received a message that there would be a delay in shipping. And this week I received a notice that my order was canceled. Today, I ordered some Winchester USA Forged from Natchez Shooting Supply. I have yet to receive a confirmation email. However, they are now showing out of stock on the USA Forged. Maybe I'll get it???
